I like city building games and puzzles. I like other things as well, but that's not important right now.

  • Sausages feel very nutritious to eat, as does high-butter food like Mashed potatoes - whether they actually are good for modern people's health is irrelevant. I imagine when it was invented it was quite important for people to refuel on protein fat and carbs all at once.

Something I like about it is that it's sort of like an exercise in balance and self control, you dip your sausage (pardon the.. nvm) into mashed potatoes, balancing the very flavoursome meaty morsel with the potatoes. It's like a pacing yourself kind of meal? Wouldn't want to end up with too much potato left over, not finish it all before your sausages are eaten.

Got to eat them both at the exact same rate.

  • You know what, They're one of those sweets that don't make me feel like crap to eat - not too much sugar, lovely texture. Great for adults and kids alike.

Jelly beans are the same, and are slightly better for the joy of different flavours but slightly worse for texture, so it balances out.

A culinary tour of the UK would definitely be remiss not to include confectionary like Jelly Babies and Jelly Beans.

  • It's mixed in with gravy, I guess the gravy and pastry are thick enough that no liquid component seeps out.

It's alright if the pie splits a bit upon serving because the gravy is going to release onto your plate when you cut in anyway.

It's also usually alright if some leaks out during cutting because we often put them in tinfoil pie - cups. Example

  • Full Fry-Up is the right term, it's the effort that you put into making it that makes it feel so good to eat. The culinary equivalent of a short mountain hike.

  • Haha yeah, we just have it from the can because it goes on potatoes and things and means you've got half your vegetables sorted for the meal.

  • I love em, but I would specify what I have them with: Roast Parsnips, Roast Lamb, Roast potatoes and mint sauce and gravy, + Steamed Carrots and Kale. That's a full meal. Splendid.

  • More of a Scottish thing though, no?

    Scotland + Wales + England = Britain, you're clear.

  • Same

  • Yep, already dreaming of my next one right now

  • Subtitled. The English dub comes off as over the top and is more intrusive. I always check to see if the dub is good though

  • Yes - If it's "slop," then fine, I like eating slop!

Bangers and mash isn't one of my favourites, just because it's very basic - but I do always enjoy eating it and the fact it has only a few components is one of it's strengths. Every cuisine needs some simpler fishers like that.

  • Nothing beats a proper English breakfast

English Breakfast is a brilliantly balanced meal and it helped me get comfortable with eating a wider range of things (mushrooms, ratatouille, tomatoes) when I was younger. Love it.

Also, beef wellington is pretty great if done right.

I've never actually had one - always been told it is more effort than it's worth. Looks good though - one day I'll have my prize

  • That is honestly not helpful. When has that ever protected immigrants from attack/scrutiny? Differences in appearance, language and cultural norms still show through.

  • Norway - Great choice.

You have to just stop caring. Not to the point of not being vigilant but you can't let yourself be "followed" by that fear over how people see you. It will affect how you see others and the confidence with which you interact with other people.

This is the kind of struggle that lots of people have to face in regards to immigration status, ethnicity, being mixed race. But if nobody made the brave choice to overcome that fear and study abroad, there'd be a lot less foreign students and the world would be a less interesting place. And also would snowball into being less safe for the smaller number of foreign students left who do make the trip.

It's a leap of faith, but you have to ask yourself "Would I treat someone with suspicion if they were from an 'enemy' country?" If the answer is yes, you yourself need to work on being more trustful of others. Then at last you can assume that people will think the same way as you; people are more similar than you might think.

I'm British and my parents, the news media, my education and my government as a whole has spent so much effort trying to paint russians negatively, but people my age don't seem to have prejudice against the Russians we meet. I think Norway is a lot less extreme than the UK in this regard, as they're a bit more detached from conflicts. Despite being a core NATO member.

  • Do you know what makes them better?

Massive win for communism btw 🥰. Just think about how they pushed back at those western brands setting up shop in the USSR. If only they knew one day they could say "Even capitalist slop taste better in Mother Russia 🐻🇷🇺"

  • Great suggestion. I think you're both right - until we have such a library as you describe, we should try and keep this as a community resembling one. But a seperate resource actually designed for permanent knowledge hub would be more ideal.

You’re never going to point to this thread or that thread and say the answer was already here the answer was already there. That’s not how communities like this actually work.

This is (presumably) true. I guess another problem with people deleting their stuff is that it's "bad etiquette" on the poster's part, as it creates the illusion that less productive exchange is happening on this sub than really is, which then makes visitors less likely to ask for help here. And i guess the OP is hoping that people who need help will do a quick search before posting about their problem.

  • Yeah and i think some instances like piefed let you automatically avoid seeing bot content. (Only blocks accounts that have marked themselves as bots)

  • I was more daydreaming about what may have been, i.e if he killed people who deserved it. I don't cekebrste him because it's illegal to celebrste terrorists and there'a probably lots more to his actions than I might know about.

  • Man this just makes me womder what could have been. Could he have got bombs over to that island? Made everyone open them all at once around a dinner table?
