  • Sony.

Last (?) brand with reasonable features (audio jack and notification LED). Gotta slap lineage/eOS on it.

  • Would have given the same answer until they fucked over the FP5 and I lost a lot od money only to find that it's just a bad device.

Will think thrice about it before I consider buying another.

  • Get a Thinkpad T480, Intel ME can be disabled and it has working coreboot/libreboot builds, might someday be fully open-source. Don't let your close ones use vulnerable spyware.

It also checks all of the boxes, except what's a "foldable screen"?

  • That may be the case, but this is a machine that runs on stable now for hundreds of days straight and it couldn't even last an hour or so on the first boot of a bare unstable system.

I never got to fully troublshoot it, but it wasn't worth it to me in the end.

  • I've installed Debian with the sid repo once after using stable for years. That's where I've had my first random system crash where everything just halts like on Windows. It also was a pretty bare system at that point, nothing special installed or configured.

    Never again.

  • To add to this, there is always the debian backports repository, which receives major updates for things such as office, BTRFS progs and other common software.

  • There's always an alterior motive with that company, you can count on it.

  • It's made by Google, that's enough.

  • In case of car sharing and public transport, I can get behind the idea.

I'm more worried about not owning your personal data anymore. Today, we have streaming services, gaming platforms and cloud storage. Some people barely even use local storage anymore, every part of their lives is saved only on social media accounts, Google/Apple/Microsoft online drives, exchange servers and government services, no paper records, no local copies.

Their entire digital life is basically out of their own hands and most people don't even realize it, because that's just "how it works" until something goes wrong with one of the services or something terrible happens.

  • But I don't want cheap RAM, I want GoodRAM™

  • Is this.. actually real?

Like, I get that reparations are in order, but is this how it‘s supposed to go down?

The US invades, loses a ton of political credibility, kills the old boss and a bunch of Iranian civilists and then pays out the new government for it?

This must have been their wet dream..

  • What, exactly, am I seeing?

Not really sure if you made a joke and this is a screenshot from some weird horror movie or you took your phone out to snap a picture of your actual girlfriend sleepwalking instead of helping or it's just AI.

  • Well, no, but what I meant was you can get a brain aneurism and die from getting up too fast, you wouldn’t have to worry about your leg cramps anymore, either way.

  • "Jumping" out of bed from lying is not too healthy as far as I know.

  • "My heart is telling me, this is wrong."
