  • As a Colorado resident, voting "by mail" as in, receiving a ballot in the mail and then dropping it at a ballot drop box, has been the only way I've ever voted.

It's a great, low-friction system. I've never dealt with crowds nor had any trouble with ballot box access.

The only issue I can imagine coming up is people without a mailing address, but we do have traditional polling places (that are much less crowded) for that reason.

We need these fascists out and we need this system adopted nation-wide to give more people their voices.

  • Instructions... clear

    I'm in a polycule now

  • "if you comment on someone's appearance and it would take them more than 5min to fix, you're an asshole. If it would take less than that, you're helping them."

  • The hate comes from the people whose lives are being made materially worse as a result of the prominence of LLMs

They're incredibly inefficient environmentally, causing companies to want to do nothing but build increasingly loud, power-hungry data centers.

They've only exasperated the K shaped economy we currently live in where the ownership class takes everything, and everyone else gets crumbs.

All the while LLMs produce misinformation, lifeless "art" and propaganda almost exclusively.

Machine Learning was useful, LLMs are slop machines that make everything worse.

  • This is America

We will own nothing and be happy

Also no, they still offer individual washes at places but they also offer a subscription service alongside them

  • Good. Keep making them waste their money

  • Most people I know seem to hate it unfortunately

    Well-made sauerkraut is delicious

  • There are some attempts to diagram it out online but it really just doesn't make sense imo

  • 100%

The difference between good and great IT people is this right here.

Tech skills can only get you so far if you're an asshole to your users and talk shit about them.

  • Fuck Fandom wikis

    All my homies hate Fandom

  • I just had to replace a 4tb drive with a mfgyr of 2016 from a customer's Synology box.

I couldn't get SMART data off it because it wouldn't initialize to do a test, but the thing was damn reliable right up until it went kaput.

  • This is the way tbh

  • Oh yeah I want to get something to replace my P7P at some point and put Graphene on it for sure.

Just waiting until I have some money because buying any hardware is just shitty atm

and also I want a steam frame

  • PiHole on old laptops started the journey for me

Now I've got all sorts of things, most visible are Plex and Audiobookshelf. The most useful to me personally is Headscale for what at I assume are obvious reasons.

I'd like to use Matrix more but that requires some buy-in from friends.

I ostensibly use this as a means of continued education for myself, but really it's because I enjoy using/learning about open-source software and creating my own ecosystem outside of "big tech"

I've got it all set up in a way that really works for me, which is all that really matters in the end.

  • GrapheneOS is a custom fork(? Correct me if I'm wrong) of Android that retains most of the features but has a private and de-googled experience.

  • I wish that money went even a quarter of that far

    Dashcam data retention recommendation?
