  • This is news to me, how were they hostile?

I would think they'd be happy if others also implement security features

  • While that is true yes, their whole brand is built on being secure.

If they release to Fairphone it won't be long before the news is flooded with "Police easily bypass supposedly secure GraphoneOS"

    And that's not a look they'd want.

I like their stance on All or Nothing.

Motorola is shipping with GraphineOS soon.

  • Especially considering that is with 12gb of RAM instead of the previous 8

  • I daily Linux, have for 18 months, but this feels one sided.

Linux has been great, but it's not been without issues.

Does Linux really perform better with not dropping low frames?

  • Linux @programming.dev

Is this just Linux propaganda, or how much of it is true?

  • It wasn't just written by AI, it was badly written and quoting sources that don't exist

  • As a South African this confused the shit out of me at first.

I thought it was the hateful political party the Economic Freedom Fighters, who chant things like "Kill the Boer" at their rallies

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

When's the next canvas/place event on the fediverse?

  • Is there only one winner in this system?

  • That's first past the post.

And that leads to strategic voting, and winner takes all.

Which concentrates way too much power

  • Ranked choice should solve this.

If you vote for 5 left wing parties, with the last one being one you know isn't going to get eliminated, then your vote still goes to the left

  • Ok fair, I didn't read all the details, and too lazy to go through all those links to understand them and pick my favourite.

Which ever one doesn't lead to stratigic voting and concentration of power.

  • Ranked choice voting.

Along with eliminating anyone with less than ~2%

What is happening to our Office Suites?! - Linux Weekly News

  • Yep I'm pretty stoked we'll soon have Euro Office

  • Sounds great, I didn't know about that

  • Sounds like a decentralized encrypted messaging platform is needed.

And when you need the highest trust, you just need to make sure you and the people you are talking to are all on trusted servers.

so governments would use their own gov.eu server or something, and only communicate sensitive info to others on that network so the info never leaves that server

  • Anyone wana give the tl:dr?

    Why?

  • Gatekeeping, nice.

  • It's not a problem on PieFed, it's mostly been delt with

  • Reddit already requires it in the UK, afik.

But it's mostly speculation form my side.

  • That is probably true, I do wish for a future where people can migrate to say https://www.eurosky.tech/ and alternatives, while benefiting from having so many users already
