  • I'd be willing to bet that a much smaller number of runners will use them if the pre-filled cups are still available. Sounds like there are some lessons to learn from Paris, but only offering re-fills is doable. There are plenty of trail running races that make it work.

  • Ah yes, let's stick it to all those fake women who upend their entire lives, undergo constant discrimination, and in some cases invasive medical procedures so they can checks notes podium at an amateur local running event that offers no prizes

  • Yeah, I've run events up to 50 miles purely by feel (to include an ill-advised 50k in 97 degree heat and high humidity). As a middle or back of the pack runner, I think you're right. It's only if you get into the real competitive part of the roster that it would make a difference.

  • Running is a big part of my life, and I'm nowhere near her level. I would imagine I'd be grieving pretty hard if someone told me I couldn't run anymore, even if I were grateful to still be alive.

  • 20km a week isn't nearly enough to finish a marathon safely. You'd likely want closer to 50km a week if you don't want it to be a suckfest. And why no walking? I think your advice is highly specific to a small sample size of runners
