  • Hey, I'll take that over "a real fascist country"...

  • I see my wording was kind of weird. What I meant is: if I set these RSS feeds, will the combined feed show only new content from that moment on, or everything/old notifications that I had already marked as read?

  • The more that I think about it, it's not actually about new notifications, but old material whose account I can't remember it was on! Can it retrieve past stuff at the moment of setting?

  • I accidentally made, like, 6 accounts, each on a different instance when first joining Lemmy because I didn't understand what federation in the field of decentralization meant LOL. Since I learned, I just kept them and have since rotated through them, partly for an illusory sense of slightly added privacy, but mostly to try to mitigate the blow of the loss of any one account in case its instance goes kaput for any reason. I guess it also gives the added benefit of Lemmy appearing more active lol (but I never comment on my own posts nor comments; that'd be wild).

Basically, if someone's response to me was interesting and I wanted to reference it later, a unified inbox would solve the problem of having to recall which account was involved.

  • Lemmy @lemmy.ml

Is there a Lemmy app that combines all notifications across multiple accounts into one unified or combined inbox?

  • Ooh, I really like "AutoVac!"

  • Exactly, agreed!

  • Even for a gamer like me, Bazzite ran so horribly on my PC that it wouldn't even open a Steam window. I could right-click the tray icon and see the context menu, but actually picking any of the options yielded nothing; no window ever popped up. It was so frustrating that I left shortly.

  • Like, even just SelfVac or whatever would be good...

  • Ha, let's hope that doesn't happen here. This is genuinely exciting.

  • Oh yeah, that reminds me, whatever happened to the Silk Road guy after release?

  • Frankly, I didn't even know about this in the first place.

  • Agreed, selfish liars are always on the worse side of the moral scale, no exceptions.

  • But the whole federated structure is the avoidance of tyranny by nature. If an instance starts acting crazy, the others can simply unlink from it. "Too many" will never happen anyway because the interface is more difficult to use. We should promote it as much as possible, I believe.

  • Right, hence us being on here!

  • It blows my mind when people don't acknowledge the legitimately cool corners of Reddit, like /r/FreeGameFindings. The content itself is not all bad there if you know where to look.

  • I feel like apart from niche communities, Lemmy now has critical mass to survive on its own!

  • Correct, RR has unusual exception because it's the only blind-friendly Reddit app (which is legitimately amazing at that). And then other apps like the forked Slide (which I use) piggyback off of it, pretending they're RR so that they can still function, too.

  • Huh, I... didn't even think of that. I suppose people could download all the old content before this kicks in, at least, but yeah, that'll be the loss of new stuff moving forward, unless people can sway them over to nsfwlemmy.

  • Wow, I haven't seen that email. What country are you in, if I may ask?
