If you got offended by my shitposting, lol. lmao.

Notifications stay off because I don't play chess with pigeons. The fact that you want to argue about a shitpost with a stranger on the internet named "Dookieman" is all I need to know your opinion isn't worth hearing.

Downvotes are delicious trophies; I've seen what you people like. Keep them coming.

  • Learn new skills. Learn to weld. Learn to solder. Learn to wire up basic electronics. Learn how to build radios. Go camping. Adopt a dog from the shelter and see how many tricks you can teach them. Learn and master anything. Creation is the key to fulfillment and the antidote to consumption. Meet younger people and talk to them about how they can and why they should dismantle the capitalist machine.

  • Despite having your needs satisfied, you sound unfulfilled. More money won't necessarily change that.

People say, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life," but the truth is the opposite. When you do something every day, you become good at it. That skill, that proficiency fosters enjoyment and leads to us loving what we do. I'm not in my career field because I love it, I love what i do because I'm very good at it and mastery is its own reward.

Are you certain there's no way to monetize your PhD? Surely you could teach with those credentials?

  • Since I live in reality, where there's no such thing as ghosts or hauntings, it wouldn't have any effect on my decision.

  • Well, what is it doing now?

  • But all the other forms of market manipulation are fine. Lol

  • Perhaps limiting your time would be preferable to abstaining completely?

The internet is a requirement for many aspects of life. The mobile or tablet experience is a cumbersome compromise at best. I'd say there's an argument to be made that using a desktop for required activities would translate to less time spent online overall simply due to the streamlined interface.

When people talk about an "online detox" paying your regular bills usually isnt the sort of activity people are worried about. I personally don't perceive the value in making this process more difficult for yourself.

Either way, I hope you get what you're hoping for from your effort.

  • Crops that grew in the shade consumed less water and people are confused? Why? Makes perfect sense to me. Once the plant absorbs enough light to perform photosynthesis, any additional sunlight is extra energy that needs to be mitigated so it doesn't doesn't destroy the plant

  • And now you understand why, starting 50 years ago, conservatives began prioritizing control of the media and defunding education

  • Not every joke about women is misogyny

  • Don't you know Violet is the only one allowed to horny-post around here?

  • Former federal prosecutors don't understand they're doing it on purpose because they want to keep pushing the election denial narrative

  • If he's dumb enough to believe that dumb shit, no wonder she left him

  • Yeah, and the end result is someone thinking they'll be more attractive, more intelligent, more desirable, more whatever, if they only bought the advertised product.

They believe there's a correct combination of light and sound waves that, when exposed to, will make us abandon our logical reasoning and supplant it with their message.

The idea that my logical reasoning can be overridden by a talking box with a message from an ivory tower is, on its face, offensive and ridiculous. But also somehow perfectly normal and accepted to most people.

  • Correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, but every instance of causation is accompanied by at least one correlation.

Disregarding correlation entirely is equally fallacious.

  • HELLO

    Jump
  • Wow, you sure demonstrated your superior competence level with those echo statements.

  • Advertisers unironically believe this is how we think

  • They're not braindead; they're making money. They got the war on drugs hooked up just the way they want it.

Doing the right thing is perfectly possible and perfectly easy until there's a financial incentive for it to not be possible or easy.

  • Ironically, "Computer Science" is the degree most likely to get you hired by the HR rep, but is also the degree that is least helpful in any practical application because it's purely theoretical. Everything taught to you in Computer Science is abstracted from you and handled automatically by the compiler, API, OS, or protocol.

  • Jeep pioneered it. BMW is perfecting it.

  • Linux @programming.dev

Ok to dual boot Linux and Windows 10?
