I went from original iPhone SE to 13 mini. I kept using the SE until it was no longer updated, although it still gets security updates from time to time. The 13 mini is a little larger, but not 6.5“ larger. I’m dreading the day that they stop supporting it, modern phones are so huge. I did read about a guy that doesn’t have a phone, just an Apple Watch, I might think about that.
I use Evolution on desktop, and don’t have an email app on my phone. Email is for longer texts that require thought, and a proper keyboard. If it’s urgent, text me or call.
Dog poo bags. I was thinking about this the other day. Future archaeologists will dig up landfill and find all these plastic bags full of dog poop, which won’t have broken down because it’s wrapped in plastic. What was the significance of dog poop to this ancient civilisation? Why was their dog poo preserved? What benefit does the dog poo give in the afterlife? And will it still smell after being wrapped in plastic for a thousand years?
Hint: mononyms are one example, but there are other real valid names besides “Null” that are also not accepted in many places. Surnames of three characters or less also cause problems in broken-by-design computer systems.
Not going to dox myself, but for many years I had a driver’s license and other “official” documentation that showed my name as something like “John Computer-Error-ABCXYZ-Is-A-Valid-Surname”. Then it cascades - when you go to open a bank account, they will only use the “official” surname on your driver’s license or government ID, so they quite happily enter “Computer-Error-ABCXYZ-Is-A-Valid-Surname” into the next computer system.
I really didn’t care - I don’t work for the bank or the state government, so their computer problems are their problem, not mine. I thought it was hilarious to have a driver’s license in the name of “John Computer-Error-ABCXYZ-Is-A-Valid-Surname” and correspondence sent to “Dear Mr Computer-Error-ABCXYZ-Is-A-Valid-Surname”.

Sometimes an itch is caused by an irritant on the skin, which causes nerves to send a signal to the brain that there is something wrong at that location. Scratching the itch sometimes overwhelms the nerve endings with signals and causes the itch to go away. (This is what usually happens when we feel itchy).
Sometimes, however, the itch happens from the other end - there is a misfire or false signal in the brain at the location where a nerve signal would be received, and we interpret that as a signal coming from the nerve, where there is actually nothing at the other end to cause a signal to be sent. However, scratching the location where we perceive the itch to be coming from can also overwhelm the nerve endings with signals, which can send signals to the brain and overwhelm the receiving end and cause the itch to go away.
Source: had a neurologist (¿ I think ?) girlfriend who did a study on phantom pain in amputees. They could stimulate bits of the brain and “trick” people into feeling their phantom pain somewhere else where it could be treated, or feeling itchy, sometimes on existing limbs; sometimes the itch would be on the non-existent amputated limb.
