We fully intend to interoperate with the threadiverse: the task-force work is about filling in the capabilities ActivityPub still lacks for groups to work like this across platforms.

Not yet. Today they work within an instance.
I do love their answer to "Why don't you run a public flagship instance?" but of course it can be tough to get any momentum like that. I guess the middle-ground would be a flagship instance that limits signups after a certain point.
I use it for small communities and it's fine, I don't mind seeing a few comments. Also that might just be Mastodon, what about the other microblogging platforms?
Following the hashtag is great if someone else on your instance is following the community. But without anyone following the community, the posts just don't get federated at all, and the hashtag is worthless.

What communities are you seeing this in? This Fediverse community is focused on change, so yeah people are going to want other people to get away from the big billionaire social media platforms. Maybe just subscribe to different communities if you don't like it. You can also block this community.
a good reminder that a lot of difficulty people have in switching to Linux is because their computer didn't come with it preinstalled, and they're just not used to Linux yet
Windows has lots of issues that people just became accustomed to over time and kinda forgot were issues, or aren't issues when the OEM preconfigures everything
Many distros are now based on Debian Testing. I feel like they could come together and maintain a shared stable base, similar to what Ubuntu used to be for them. Kinda like the Open Gaming Collective guys did for their kernel development.
My dad's computer monitor is a bit too big for the seating distance, so I made the bottom task bar not hide, and added a big left side panel full of widgets, that way his maximized windows don't use the full screen. Full screen video is still the full monitor.
On my laptop I set the window behavior to open new windows as maximized. (I can always do super+arrow to quickly shrink a window for multitasking)
