  • Pretty sure you just have to enable hibernation and give it a file to write to? Then just set your PC to go into hibernate on idle

  • "New Comments" is underrated! Active is pretty good too. For my default I use Subscribed+Scaled so I don't miss anything, but if I'm looking for engagement I use New Comments or Active. The Hot sort kinda sucks on Lemmy lol, it's too similar to New. But OP is on PieFed, IDK how Hot is there, it uses different math.

  • Wow 300ms is really long in terms of game performance. For gaming they could've gotten the desired result with like 50ms.

    I wonder what kind of workloads that number was chosen for (a lot of productivity work is constant for minutes at a time) or if it's instead based on hardware characteristics (like if it takes more power to clock down and back up than the power used to keep it up for 300ms)

  • I think in a vacuum Mastodon is very good, it works really well. But only with itself. They don't seem very eager to work with other ActivityPub platforms.

  • Mastodon has the same issue with Lemmy posts, it's an issue with different activity types. I think Mastodon posts are "notes" and Lemmy/Phanpy posts are "articles", so Mastodon won't fully render them because they don't really focus on compatibility with other platforms.

  • You can follow Lemmy communities, right? Maybe something like @games@lemmy.world or @movies@piefed.social

    Also there's probably some bot accounts that boost posts, maybe you can follow one of those for a while until they start following the people that it boosts. Maybe @MostFollowed@mastodon.social

  • "SteamOS Holo 64 bit" is down by -0.04%, so our growth this month isn't coming from the Steam Machine. I guess they haven't shipped many of them.

    Our gains are mostly from Fedora, Ubuntu, and CachyOS. A small amount of growth from Bazzite and Mint. A tiny growth for Debian.

    EDIT: They updated the page, SteamOS did have growth, just as much as CachyOS.

    Also interesting that Linux gained in a month where Chinese gained, usually that hurts Linux's numbers by a lot.

    The !communityname@instancename format works better, it's more universal to other platforms/apps. !pigeon@mander.xyz and !stick@sh.itjust.works

    I do find a few things annoying about the federation system, like opening links directly to lemmy.world on my desktop an having to surgically recreate the link on my instance if I want to interact with it at all.

    You can copy paste the URL into you instance's search box.

    But I do think we also need this feature https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/2318

  • yea it does, but it's pretty minimal

    mine is at 3.7 MB with 23 png files (I always use the rectangle select, not full screenshot)

  • I don't see your post. I think in Brave you would have to click to expand the Sidebar in order to make a post

    for a phone I would better suggest Boost, Connect, or Summit
