Lemmy wasn't ready at that time, it's much better now, but people won't give it another chance. PieFed is better now anyways and still increasing the gap, but no one knows about it. We need another big exodus somehow, and we need to send them to PieFed over Lemmy.
Also you can control the pacing better. A bot will nuke the comments/posts ratio into the ground and that turns everyone away when all they see are a ton of 0 comment posts
yea I would say that's what home users should be doing anyways? idk to me it doesn't make sense to be so far behind on updates when the non-LTS is available
Or how far behind is Mint on the updates for kernel, Nvidia drivers, KDE, etc? I remember them being really far behind on some things. It confuses me how Mint is suggested so often.
i want to see posts from communities that i already subscribed to, but because there's more than 1000 communities on the fediverse and i'm only subscribed to a small countable subset of them, i inevitably lose out on a lot of content. (The "all" feed sucks unfortunately). So how to solve this?
You don't use the Subscribed feed? I like Subscribed+Scaled
The Fediverse significantly lacks behind on the Content Discoverability technology.
I don't think we should be limiting new users from commenting or posting. And 7 days is a long time.
Auto closing communities would be really annoying, but I think dimming them or marking them in the lists/search results would be nice. I filed an issue on this already https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/3174 maybe if more people think this is a good idea they could leave comments there
well you can keep using Lemmy, I'm just talking about suggesting to unfamiliar people.
Lemmy and PieFed share content anyways so it doesn't matter which you use, you'll see posts/comments/votes/communities from both anyways
