  • Dedicated GPUs are obviously going to be more powerful. I've never run ai before so maybe someone else can weigh in on the requirements for it, but I can say for sure that an igpu is good enough for jellyfin transcoding. It also depends on your budget, do you want to spend the extra money just for a dedicated GPU?

If you go igpu route I think that Intel is recommended over AMD, but you should probably do extra research on that before buying

  • I don't know what kind of server you're running, but if you plan to host any video then you want a dedicated GPU or a cpu with integrated graphics (and even if you're not, I think it's a good idea anyway), which the 5600x doesn't.

I also think it's overboard to get $90 watercooling. Just get an air cooler for half or a third of the price

  • Into the penis

  • tar --help

  • Grapheneos doesn't require root before install or allow root after install

  • One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention yet, in this post or the last one, how to you plan on aquiring videos for your server? If you plan on torrenting, you just have to pay for a vpn, Proton doesn't allow you to make p2p connections like that on a free account

  • OPs problem is that proton blocks Lan connections when connected and require you to pay them if you want to unblock it

  • Idk if proton allows you to download config files on a free account but if they do then you could use those to manually split tunnel your local internet

Edit: if they don't then the "most secure" (and cheapest) option is to pay for a VPN that allows Lan connections

  • I don't plan to access it anywhere but home

Okay so what's all this faffing about for? Just don't open it up to the internet and access it with your servers local ip address on your home network

  • You lose a bit of functionality but you can use it for free

  • I'm sorry, the what gene?

  • Looking for a couple minutes online has in stock 4090s priced at $3000-$4000 USD (on their own, no pc attached to them). I don't know anything about hp omen or how much a 4090 goes for where you're from, but from where I'm sitting it's looking like a sweet deal for that alone.

  • Why not

  • Honestly thank you. Been using homarr for a while and had no idea that had a completely new version

  • Oof ow my bones ouch

  • The grass is always greener I guess

  • I don't care what people have to say about apple

More speed is more heat is more battery wear

Why is making it an option with the default set to off worse than what they have now (slow charging with no option)?

  • I know Samsung and pixel both have this option, and I would be surprised if other major manufacturers didn't. While people have their grievances with them, I've never heard anyone complain about overall battery lifetime.

If that is an actual concern people have then they can just turn it off by default

  • Ok so make it an option

Can I use ram from two different brands?
