  • May I ask what I helped you with?

Ah, and Bottles is currently broken. If you try to run something in the terminal, it doesn’t work. There is a bug report open, but the developer of the app is "busy", so the only way to fix this is to downgrade the Flatpak.

  • Git? Yep. If you're asking whether I clone wine from gitlab, the answer is yes. I clone it, compile it myself, and place it in the bottles directory. I also use Kron4ek builds for Wine Staging and TKG.

Many things still don’t work for me just a black screen. I try from time to time. I’m using bottles and disabled X11 permissions in flatpak to test wayland. I only play older titles (pre-2010). The oldest game I have is Total Annihilation (1997), and I also have Anno 1602 (1998). Neither game runs on Wayland, and they’re not the only ones. Some games do work, like majesty 2, but it has broken camera movement with the mouse. Wayland and wndows are too different to make certain behaviors match, so Xwayland is still needed for some applications.

  • Old news, tomorrow will be wine 10.6. There is 2 week gap between these two. Or maybe it's lemmy federation issue.

  • I reported it as wrong language and down voted.

  • Its great, but needs some tweaks, bofere use for "normal" people.

Don't remember exactly, but I enabled webGl and checked /unchecked other thinks.

  • I'm using librewolf now, after Mozilla actions.

  • Proton already uses esync & fsync to get about the same resuts.

Correct me if I am wrong, but esync and fsync have compatibility issues with some games and this is the biggest problem.

  • But so close I think. It's already in 6.14 kernel.

  • Ehhh it is what it is.

  • Maybe try some GUIs like Bottles or Lutris. If you want a Windows-like experience in Bottles, you need to disable the sandbox, otherwise, you'll have to place files inside the "bottle"(sanbox dir) I'm not sure about Lutris. If you have pure Wine installed and clicking on a .exe file does nothing, you can use the terminal. Just type 'wine pathtoyour.exe,' and it will run(install) inside the ".wine" directory in your home dir. However, remember that using non-sandboxed Wine means Windows programs have full access to your files (just like on Windows), and Wine can also run Windows viruses.

  • Imho, mpv is better. It has better support for AV1, is faster, and has no problems with audio, but VLC has a better interface with more options. I made the transition from VLC to MPV a few months ago and don't regret it.

  • When I made a troll post about 09.11 and wine 9.11 release.

Something like: "wine 9.11 has landed" + some wtc attack picture with wine logo on it.

edit: And there was a reply to a comment about how the chinese communist army is the most peaceful and just army in the world. I just shared a picture of the Tiananmen Square 'Tank Man.' I got banned on lemmy.ml and downvoted to oblivion.

  • Perhaps we could also get a built-in AI tool for automatic subtitle synchronization?
