  • It wasn't specifically notepad++ code, but a custom-written updater. That's why it was connecting to the internet.

  • Of course it is. Not just for the workers but for the exact reasons you've stated.

  • Washington state.

  • Quota? Why?

I was in Spain several years ago. I had a day to kill before my flight, so was driving around just sightseeing. Suddenly, I'm in Portugal. As an American, I was a little freaked out to be in a different country without any warning.

There were probably warnings, I just couldn't read them. But no border patrol, no stops, just Spain...then Portugal.

If we open the borders, that shuts off most of the reasons people have to hide. It opens up cooperation. People won't be afraid to ask for help if they're the victim of crime. People are more likely to become a part of the community. Or, they come across the border to work, then go back daily, weekly, whatever.

Yes, there will still be crime. There always is. I think we criminalize the wrong things.

  • The lower edge of the door is usually a 2x4 or something similar (pressboard). It allows you to trim the bottom to for different doorway heights.

I have something like this, with a magnetic catch on the wall that holds the door open.

  • Snow is a great insulator, and there used to be a lot more of it. Packing it against the sides of the house both insulates and keeps the wind out of any cracks.

  • I had a couple of hot dogs the other day.

  • It's much cheaper to power computers with the brains most of us aren't using.

  • I stopped going to the theater unless what I want to see is on IMAX. The screen is bigger, the seats are comfortable etc etc. Everything else I can watch at home.

    You're Welcome!

  • A friend of mine carried the Huntington gene. He didn't get it, but all three of his kids are dead from it.

  • I wish Pres Trump could be notified to what this company has done to customers.

Why does she think he can't be notified?

What makes her think he doesn't already know?

    So many layers of cope.

  • I worked with a lot of Japanese in the past, and if they anglicized their name they would pick one that sounded like their Japanese name. Ryu became Leo, Haru became Harry. We had a Tommy (I can't remember his Japanese name, it was similar to Tommy).

Or just pick one. Names aren't that important in the US, unless you belong to some weird family dynasty.

  • You get a car, you get a car...I have so many new friends.

  • I'd even make copies of that car for all my friends, just like I do now.

  • Another major concern was how TEP [Tucson Electric Power ] would meet the center’s significant energy demand without shifting costs to residential consumers. Earlier this year, the company asked for a 14% rate hike.

Corporate welfare for a data center the public doesn't want.

  • Today I Learned @lemmy.world

TIL that Fort Bragg isn't named after a Confederate general anymore. It's named after a private from WWII who's claim to fame is having the same last name as a Confederate general.
