Marxist-Leninist ☭

Interested in Marxism-Leninism, but don't know where to start? Check out my Marxist-Leninist study guides, both basic and advanced!

  • Social Democracies cannot get to Communism without revolution and replacement with Socialism. This is because the dominant system in Social Democracy, especially the nordic countries, is Capitalism and Imperialism. They fund their safety nets from massive exploitation of the Global South with brutal IMF loans, exporting Capital for outsourcing production, and more, they are parasitic.

Further, European Social Democracies are seeing sliding worker protections and social safety nets. Because the Capitalists are in control, they wear down the safety nets via austerity politics to further their profits. This is due to the Tendency for the Rate of Profit to Fall, Capitalists are forced to expand internationally and seek further and further exploitation due to competition forcing rates of profit down, so they counteract by expanding to raise absolute profits. Austerity measures are one example of Capitalists lowering their expenditures.

Next, Socialism is democratic. Whether it be the Soviet Model (for more in-depth accounting of it, Soviet Democracy by American Pat Sloan who participated in and observed it directly in the 1930s), or otherwise, Socialism has always been democratic. The Dictatorship of the Proletariat is the dictatorship by the proletarian class as a whole against the bourgeois clasd as a whole, as a direct contrast to liberal democratic dictatorships of the bourgeoisie found in the world over, including European Social Democracy.

Social Safety Nets alone are not Worker supremacy over Capital, hence why the US saw the erosion of social safety nets from FDR to complete obliteration, and why we are seeing the same trend in European countries. This is unavoidable as long as Capital is the dominant factor in the economy and humans are not, due to the Tendency for the Rate of Profit to Fall. In 1900, Rosa Luxemburg already proved why this is the case in Reform or Revolution. Reformism has never worked, because it cannot work. Even when a Communist does get in via existing democratic systems, such as Salvadore Allende in Chile, they get couped by the national bourgeoisie with the aid of Imperialist countries like the United States or EU.

Finally, there is no "true communism." Every country will have a different path to Communism, but certain factors will remain the same, such as the necessity of revolution. The idea of a pure, untainted "true communism" that has never been actually tried is a western-chauvanistic attitude that necessitates that workers in AES countries are simply "too dumb" to understand what communism is or how to build it, despite their real, practical work. The only Communism is the kind that exists in the real world, not in the figments of imagination alone.

You would do well to watch Dr. Michael Parenti's 1986 lecture and read his seminal historical book Blackshirts and Reds.

  • The recent strong example of a Communist Revolution created the conditions for FDR and other Social Democrats to greatly expand protections for workers via concessions.

  • Genuinely, what is the practical distinction between a Communist or Socialist revolution in the context of an international example for the domestic working class?

Furthermore, the French Revolution ultimately toppled the monarchy. It was not sunshine and roses, but succeeded in transitioning from feudalism to Capitalism. Additionally, I did not say every revolution was successful, but instead that we have many examples of successful revolutions.

Moreover, you have not established that you have options. You have no examples of Social Democracy existing in a manner that isn't temporary, and wasn't given rise to by the example of a much larger revolution like the Russian Revolution the working class could have followed in the footsteps of had the bourgeoisie not made concessions. This historical context is crucial to understanding what does and does not work!

  • Lenin overthrew the bourgeois Capitalist government, the elections were already not free and fair, unless you believe the only ones that should be allowed to vote are men, among which the more privledged were the only ones allowed to participate. The Soviets were more free and fair, and moreover extended the right to vote to all, including women.

Lenin didn't overthrow Capitalism because "he wanted more power." Lenin overthrew Capitalism because he was a dedicated Marxist and wanted to establish real worker control. It is painfully obvious that you have read none of Marx nor Engels nor Lenin. Moreover, Lenin was not a dictator, he was elected and could have been recalled at any time, as the Soviet System added that ability over the Provisional Government, which sought to retain bourgeois control.

Do you consider yourself a Marxist? If not, why pretend to be an authority? If so, why haven't you read Marx or responded to my direct explanations of Marxist theory?

  • What do you mean by "we don't know what we need for a proper revolution?" Can we not look to the centuries of successful revolutions, and see how their conditions are similar and different from our own? Moreover, where are you hoping will be the next required large country to have a Communist revolution, and why can't it be your country?

  • Then you need

    1. A millitant, organized working class movement
    2. A large, strong example of a recent Communist revolution, and
    3. A fearful bourgeoisie

  • I have been directly censored and banned on a large and active Lemmy.world community for explaining why the US is involved with the Palestinian genocide. I can't paste the modlog here because doing so breaks Lemmy.world's rules.

In case you check my modlog, here is the context for the Playstation@Lemmy.zip ban. The moderator banned me for calling out their regurgitation of white supremacist "anti-DEI" nonsense about non-white people being included in God of War. They since deleted their account and locked the sub, now its just bot posts for the most part.

  • I'm saying there is no actual basis for it being possible within the system, though, unless there is revolutionary pressure, and even then this is only temporary and still requires revolution. That's why FDR's safety nets are vestigial at this point.

Revolution isn't the goal, but it remains the only proven tool.

  • You're ignoring that these advancements in labor movements came as concessions from the bourgeoisie in the context of trying to prevent what happened in Russia from happening in Canada and the US.

  • One Party Communism is the Communism of Marx, Lenin didn't invent that. Lenin's contributions to Marxism were more with respect to analysis of Capitalism as it reaches Imperialism, the Soviet method of democracy, the concept of Democratic Centralism, the role of the peasantry in revolution, and the Right of Nations to Self-Determination.

Moreover, the collapse of the USSR was multifaceted. If you want an honest critique of the USSR, my reading list includes Blackshirts and Reds in the very first section, and you'd do well to read it. My point isn't that the USSR was a utopia, but that it was real, and authentically Socialist, and thus the problems it faced are real and need to be learned from for any Socialist movement going forward.

Marxism-Leninism is still the guiding ideology of Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, China, and more, and all have managed to learn from the experiences of the USSR, and its downfall. The fact that you think Marxism-Leninism does not work implies you believe all of these states will inevitably fall for the same reasons the USSR did, despite having entirely different circumstances and learning from it.

Finally, Lenin banned factionalism. Open discussion was allowed, not wrecking or going against the Socialist system entirely. The Soviet system was still democratic.

Do you consider yourself a Marxist?

  • What a horribly dismissive response to what I believe to be a well-thought out addressing of what I considered to be real concerns of yours. If you cannot honestly engage with clear Marxist analysis despite claiming to be speaking from a leftist perspective, and must strawman me as "worshipping" anyone in the face of said analysis, then you aren't actually interested in truth nor leftism. Leftism becomes a fuel for whining on the internet for you, and not an actual practical tool for changing the horrible systems we live in.

Can you honestly respond to my comment, or not?

  • Capitalists can't be ousted by asking nicely, that happens with revolutionary pressure. Since you can't do step 1, UBI would only come alongside austerity measures as a way to "simplify government" and erode social programs. You also can't translate that to nationalizing key industries either, let alone worker coops. We have hundreds of years of history telling us this.

Secondly, revolution isn't "flipping the gane board and starting again," it's a wresting of control from Capitalists and establishing a new state owned and run by the working class, in its interests. Industry must be preserved and carried forward, and that doesn't include immediately siezing all industry but doing so with respect to the degree that sectors and entities have developed and established effective internal planning, making markets less efficient vectors for growth and public ownership and central planning superceding it.

  • Lemmy.ml has many Communists because the admins and moderators are largely made up of Marxists. This is because it is the dev instance, and the devs are Marxists. Lemmy.ml is in no way pro-Trump, the vast majority of users stand in firm opposition to Democrats and Republicans, owing to the strong Marxist presense.

  • If you aren't working towards the establishment of Socialism, you can hardly be called "far left."

  • It's extremely telling that you are relying on Wikipedia for your understanding of Communism, rather than Marx, Engels, etc. You should read theory, if you want to start I made an introductory Marxist reading list.
