    Let's not lose sight here. The enemy is the upper class (typically billionaires, but a lot of time this includes politicians), and they want the lower class divided and shitting on each other so that they can do whatever they want in the meantime.

  • CA allows mail in ballots to be postmarked on election day, and in the past those have leaned to the left. There's still 42% of the ballots out. Plus, it's a jungle primary, meaning the top two candidates win. So, even if the GOP candidate has the most votes in the primary, that doesn't necessarily mean he'll win in the general.

    I don't disagree, though. Anyone that is continuing to vote for any republican is dumb as bricks and it's very demoralizing.

You think that they can't catch FIV, get hit by cars, etc. You also don't care about your local bird population. Your ignorance is going to hurt something outside, whether it's your cat, another cat, or just the birds in your backyard. It's very American of you to think this way and be so selfish.

  • Yep, exactly. And when you let your cats roam free, it also has a cyclical effect where it brings more cats to the area. Cats are very territorial, especially outdoors, and tomcats are especially driven to expand their range and territory. It's super selfish to allow your cats outdoors in just about every way.

    Also, the FIV vaccines are not 100% effective, in fact they're lower than most vaccines, at around 55-60%. So, even if you get your cat the FIV vaccine, if you let them outdoors, you're putting them at risk of contracting it.

    Your cats are likely going to get hurt or worse, die because of your ignorance. This very post is proof of that. This isn't paranoia, it's just you being ignorant. It's funny that you bring up being American, because your actions are exactly that of the average, ignorant, selfish American. Your cat was in danger that night, and you can't even acknowledge that you allowed that to happen. Worse, you're doubling down on enabling it, just like most conservative Americans would do.

  • My neighbor from a few years ago let their cat roam our tiny street and he got FIV, and likely also spread it.

    Further, not only is it a risk for your cat, it's a risk to the environment. They are responsible for the extinction of multiple bird species.

    You really think that your cat is exempt from the studies showing outdoor cats have much lower lifespans? It's not, and it's proven by this post. Whatever scared them was probably trying to harm them (probably a stray tomcat, like my neighbors' FIV+ one. FIV is spread through all bodily fluids, even their saliva through bites that you may not be able to easily see under their fur).

    I have three indoor only cats that live very healthy, happy, and danger-free lives. They have never been in the danger that yours was probably in.

  • Raid 10 is and interesting idea for sure. It would certainly help with write speeds, although if I want to utilize the "self-healing" of ZFS, I'd need to do two (separately striped) vdevs that mirror each other to get the equivalent to RAID10, right?

  • I should have mentioned that I was (and still am) using XFS for my primary pool. XFS has been great, I was just hoping for a solution which would make it so I don't have to hit my backups unless absolutely necessary (such as full array loss, for example). ZFS' data corruption protection is very intriguing, it's mostly the rebuild time and write speed that is making me think about doing something else.

  • Would this just be to help with the rebuild time? Raid10 in ZFS is an interesting idea, which would also require two mirrors and striping.
