  • Social networks see the writing on the wall and want to create regulatory capture. If they provide the identify verification it is another hook into us.

  • It’s a game of thrones. Who pays better? Who will protect you the best?

  • With the voltage you’re running I don’t think it’s a concern.

Gross and uncomfortable though, I agree.

  • Exactly, except that it does expose immunocompromised individuals to a high risk.

  • People are still looking at Kamala and saying “It could have been so much worse! Who else was there to vote for?”

  • I had a boss that would teams-call me when I was on the toilet. I don’t think it was malicious, just inconvenient. He was a dick about it though, so maybe he was watching my status.

The Authenticator app is one of the the least invasive pieces of software you could install on your phone, so you’re on your own there. But we just get a Yubikey and it’s their problem.

  • As I recall they locked out HomeAssistant from their API. Crappy company.

  • Why are people against experts, the educated, and the informed?

I’m just thinking how for most of history, humanity put these people on a pedestal and let them get away with a lot (through religion, in most cases I think).

I think your culprits are accurate.

  • Consistent.

“You should use AI for your work!”

    “Do you?”

“Oh heavens no! It’s nowhere near accurate to do my work”

  • I think it’s simply that many people who would have gotten commerce/MBA in 2008 got CS degrees instead. Finance bros moved into tech in a big way. These people influence the way that the nerds think and work.

  • How would they be any different than a standard AC coil in that regard?

Regular use of Coil cleaner is the key here.

  • Some come with lines that are vacuumed or something out of the box. Aren’t most compressors pre charged?

  • I can eat a beef.

I cannot eat a datacentre, no matter how much I try it doesn’t digest.

    I agree about golf courses.

  • The startup cost for a chip fab is MONSTROUS. Add the fact that the incumbents have already been convicted of being a cartel once (or more?), and it’s going to be a heck of an industry to break into. The incumbents just will drop price

  • The “demand” is in the future. It may never be realized. There’s no money in starting a chip fab when there’s only a manufactured shortage. The chip companies aren’t adding capacity because they don’t need it.

  • I don’t think AI is the problem. It merely amplifies the delusional state that our global leadership in business and government is in.

It’s the Business Idiot and Rot Economy theory, and AI is just making it obvious to more people. “What if my CEO is actually an idiot? What if he’s just been lucky on some of the decisions he’s made and we forget about all the stupid stuff he does because it changes from month to month?”

  • As I recall, they blended a few of the silly valley moguls into that character. Zuckerberg and Jobs also made some appearances in that character.
