  • You are not two different people but you have different roles throughout your day and life. Like there may be a childish part that loves to do fun stuff or a grown up part that makes sure you properly care of yourself and so on.

Your thoughts can be viewed as a kind of communication between these parts e.g. when you are conflicted because you'd love to watch one more episode of your favorite tv show even though it's late and you know you'll be tired tomorrow. On the decision making progress your different "parts" communicate and sooner or later you come to a decision.

Beside this situational communication there may be also things we internalized e.g. because our parents told us or because we came to the respective conclusion. Like "if I don't do my work properly, my coworkers will be mad".

Sometimes the relation between your "conscious parts" is off or the internalized thoughts are bad for you. That's why it can be good to be more aware of what you're actually thinking. It's just you in there, but a lot of you.

  • "I'm not lazy, I'm overwhelmed", "everything's safe and sound" and a lovely "just shut the fuck up" for the demanding parts of myself

  • Purring with open mouth allows the brain cell to reach him faster.

Btw I have the same look when I'm out with my spouse and he gave his smartphone too much attention. So I feel deeply connected and am slightly tempted to steal him (灬º‿º灬)♡

  • Haha yes, I was looking at some profiles because I was wondering who the fuck down votes stuff in arts and crafts communities.

  • You can enter links of posts, comments or user profiles at lemvotes and will then see the up and down votes

  • So what's with all those cute cat boys out there? Stop gatekeeping cat lifestyle!

  • Or the knowledge that you can't.

  • The Nazis and (racial) pseudo science. Name a more iconic duo.

But even before that, health at least to a certain degree, has become a product. This is the breeding ground for these kind of people.

  • Desperate people are so willing to believe... I guess that goes for some bald people too :/

I know a few people who got their hair transplanted to their heads and are very happy with it. JIC your father gets tired of rubbing his nails someday.

  • Spouse comes from a family believing in this shit. They have a go to doctor for regular health issues (that one seems to be okay) and one for the bad issues (that's the fraud).

I'm sick for > 5 years now so I'm at the stage where I try everything if it doesn't seem to kill me so about 3 years ago I went to see him.

It was wild (quantum physics are easy to use and he heals his grandchildren in Africa regularly, pendulums and quartz stones were used, he shoved me around a few times, ...) and in the end he explained that I'm suffering from worms that can't be detected with school medicine tests. His treatment was as follows:

    • No alcohol and caffeine for two weeks so he can remotely undo my corona vaccine
    • Taking a few drops of his medicine daily so he can remotely attack the worms through this

The whole session was expensive as fuck and I had some very long talks with my spouse about this afterwards. He stopped giving money to this guy now, after the fraud doctor started to call him and say he saw that my spouse is becoming sick (fraud dr has a drop of spouse's blood and claims it changes when spouse becomes sick) and that he needs to start his remote therapy..

If you can speak German or are willing to translate: behold fraud dr website

  • For people I know a little I usually talk about something recent that happened in one of our common areas of interest (e.g. new game releases, what we played recently, what annoyed or hyped me, books we bought and / or read, ...).

Another friend of mine became a parent two years ago and this and the house they are currently building are actually the only things she can talk about anymore, so I adapted and usually start with something one of my niblings did recently (e.g. my 3 year old niece told everyone she can't wait to finally grow up and can do what she wants like going alone to school, eat fries and dance! All very nice life goals IMHO and a good convo starter :D)

For people I know less I try to find something that relates to the current situation (like how I experience things, or what they are currently doing, ...). I feel like it's important, that you are genuine as in you are actually interested in what you are talking about and what the other person has to say.

E.g. after class you can discuss your perception of the lesson (that was loooong / interesting / difficult / ...) and ask them how they perceived it. Or if you meet someone for the first time you can ask how they decided to go to this class and continue from there.

Fun fact: I found my friends at uni (still friends > 10 years later) by befriending the weirdest guy in the group and then being introduced by him. He loved to talk about toilets, maths and how he felt like the Mensa was his new mom. He was super smart and weird and actually everyone liked him because he was honest and real. I used this as a cue to overshare all my weird family stories in that group (not the best conversation starters), I guess the shock value still worked :D

In the end it feels way more difficult, than it is. I still sweat like I've walked a marathon every time. The best tip is that you're genuinely interested in what the other person has to say. If something really doesn't interest you, engage in another topic or ask friendly for more insights, maybe you'll learn something new. Stay friendly and appreciate the time, the person is spending with you and you're good!

  • That one braincell is obviously hard at work!

  • They will fight about who of them offed the aliens and won: Someone definitely did more than the rest, and this someone is most obviously me! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ

  • Agree, my spouse and I do the same. You need to know how to code and understand the basic principles otherwise it's a bit like the Chinese room thing where you may or may not operate currently not have no actual clue of what you're doing. You need to be about to see when llms follow their hobby and blow three lines of code unnecessarily out of proportion by adding 60 lines of unneeded shit that opens the door to more bugs.

  • rawr :3

  • First time getting lightly drunk was after eating all the strawberries from the punch bowl for the grown ups.

A few years later I drank beer until I felt drunk for the first time.

  • I love it when they reopen construction sites where cables from other carriers were recently buried (after Telekom said no) because NOW they want to provide their shit there too.

  • A few weeks ago my app (Jerboa) got updated or reset or whatever and I actively had to turn them back on in my settings.

  • That's an American thing. Where in from, health insurance covers it completely. But you'll need a while to find a good, available therapist
