  • Thank you for this. I have seen a few *arr combination projects I wanted to look into; so I may have had come across this one.

    It's unfortunate that the "developer" chose to nope out, instead of fixing it or at least seeking help from the community. This is one of the good aspects of OSS - that we can and should audit ourselves. But if it was all vibe coded, maybe they didn't know that an audit is good and should be welcomed; instead of rejected and shutdown.

    "Coarse" refers to the size of particulates like how big each piece of sand is. Coarse is larger bits of sand, making it rougher.

  • I took a computer programming course in high school and really liked coding. I was going to do a comp sci degree, but my dad forced me to do software engineering. In my 2nd last year of uni, I did an internship at a web dev company. They liked me so they asked me to work part time during the year; then after I graduated, I just went from part time to full time. Have been in web dev ever since.

    My advice: pick a career that pays well that you'll enjoy; then look into what you need to get there. Don't go to post-secondary simply because you like the subject.

    I know someone who really liked history, but didn't think about life after school. Unfortunately, they're now stuck at home with their parents, working a minimum wage job, paying off insane amounts of student debt. I really wish it worked out better for them, but there's not many decent paying jobs in that field.

  • Fellow homebox user here. As an aside: I've got a storage room with a bunch of shelves and bins. For each bin, I've suck labels on them (using a label maker or sharpie + painters tape), and an NFC tag. Each box in Homebox has its own location, and each NFC tag is a direct link to its instance in Homebox.

    It's much easier to categorize larger quantities of things that aren't as valuable as vintage media. Ie. hygiene products, off-season clothing, etc...

    I use them for:

    • Vehicles - so I can find it if I go to a big venue / in case it gets stolen
    • Pets - we recently had a cat in our family run away. Turns out they do that if they know they're going to pass away soon, so we don't really have closure / can give them a proper burial
    • Checked luggage while travelling - If it gets lost, we can tell the airline which airport it's at to help them find it

  • This was my rig until I got a cross-body bag. Now everything goes into the bag, except my phone. That way I don't need to carry everything around while I'm at home; and I don't need to keep loading / unloading my pockets at night or going out

  • I'd talk to the parents first and let them know what their kid did and how your kid has expressed that they're not interested in their kid in that way.

    Then I'd probably sit down with both kids and explain to them that while the gesture is very nice, from your perspective and in your culture, this level of gift is seen as a dowry. Usually dowry's aren't given unless both parties are for sure interested in each other romantically.

    Now as a teenager, hormones are running wild, and so a friend may come off as a lover. I'd say you're stepping in and declining the offer to prevent a friendship being ruined. I personally was in the exact same situation, decided to stay friends, and they're one of my best friends to this day

    Very crude markup:

    • Green: The dots I think were included
    • Red: The dots I'm assuming you're referring to (in which case I would agree with you)
    • Blue: Showing the (extremely rough) alignment. Based on the 7, there's a max of 5 dots across for a given character. Indicating there is a potential row on the left that may either be the actual left side of the character (in which case it would be red and you would be right), or it's also a misprint (which then it ccoouulldd be green)
