  • At least for now. Jellyfin was spawned from Emby who also decided to go closed source at one point. You're still at the whim of strangers and what they want to do with the product they developed.

    Regardless, the debate isn't about "Plex vs Emby," it's whether "Plex is self-hosting" or not.

  • I have been printing some prototypes for something my coworker is designing after he initially went with one of these print services and they charged him $40 for a tiny little 1" tube that costs me literal pennies to print and about 20 minutes of print time. I would only recommend these services in extreme circumstances because they'll really price gouge you.

  • Ive had my gripes with them over the years but they've always had the most feature rich and mostly polished system. I did use Emby (what Jellyfin spawned from) for a few years when Plex was struggling with EAC3 audio and have lifetime passes for both but always come back to Plex.

    I won't defend their recent restrictions on free accounts and additions of features nobody wants, but if you already have a lifetime pass its still the best option IMO.
