  • Theres a proposal for one in Scotland that will use up as much electricity as the whole country combined (Except during winter where peak load is a whopping 1/3 higher than the proposed data centre.

  • Calibri is such a nice readable font too.

  • It also worked because most other advanced economies had just been bombed into the ground twice over leaving the US with a huge advantage that made prosperity easy, those conditions simply don't exist anymore.

  • Nah LLMs can at least do grammar, the sum of the text may be nonsense but the induvidual sentences tend to be pretty perfect. We don't yet have the technology to re-create covfefe.

  • Probably accounting for the curvature of earths surface.

  • WHY???

  • Because storms want to be circles but any given gas giants atmosphere is basically a series of nothing but storms and when you tile circles you get a hexagonal grid due to the spaces in between them?

  • I've never really seen any purity tests unless shit like 'It would be nice if rich people had to obey the law' is a purity test.

  • As if they'd try so hard, take it from someone with shitty internet, the box absoloutely appears in that spot after you click.

  • Don't forget each worker also has to simultaniously spend $∞ on goods and services.

  • Its due to heavy adaptation specifically around snakes, when the first true snakes evolved they were basically meta (causing at least 1 extinction of an entire group and probably more we don't know about) so whole ecosystems had to shift to basically not be fucked up by snakes.

  • The problem I find is even when I genuinely try to do this their reasoning is genuinely incomprehensible to me, these people don't care about what they can see with their own eyes let alone scientific concensus, its a world view with more basis on how they feel inside their own heads than whats hitting them in the face in real life.

  • On the bright side with much of the world ramping up renewables for various economic and defense purposes we might see the US and Russia fuck themselves up over oil just in time for the market to collapse.

  • Even a genuinely perfect model would immediately skew to bias; the moment some statistical fluke gets incorporated into the training data that becomes self re-enforcing and it'll create and then re-enforce that bias in a feedback loop.

  • The Unmentionables?

  • How about faces the same punishment someone that isn't an incredibly rich corporation would face? If that's insurance then sure, if thats jail time then yes someoen should be punished just like anyone else would.

  • To be fair america could, rare earths aren't actually that rare. The main thing is that mining them is the environmental equivelent of pouring fuel everywhere and setting the place on fire. That stops most countries which is why China has the market so cornered but with how the US feels about the concept of breathable air these days they could totally secure a domestic supply.

  • Their main issue is being antisocial jerks, they don't co-operate so they can't share knowledge and the females die careing for the eggs (which again they might not if they worked together) so they can't pass anything onto their young either. The jerk part is they also eat eachother sometimes.

  • Dies after 6 hours of trying to make an online phone call via various websites and constantly getting stuck because they want an excessive amount of personal data that I don't have on hand with me on the island. The laptop had an 8 hour battery but beating myself to death with a coconut just seems preferable by that point.
