  • Let's see, so its completely dependent on the existing internet and replaces no low level part of it at all...

  • Someone builds this at least once a month

  • fails closed by default

Then there are all the ones that fail "open" in that they allow their admin interface to be reached from the wan side. In practice, not using IPv6 has very little impact on the over all infiltration rate of consumer network devices.

  • IPv6

  • Anyone remember when HN had interesting stories? Today we get a blog post from the guy in the train station with the massive backpack about using a usb-c charger on a trip.

  • As usual, you have saved us time by answering your own question.

  • It was a typo, fixed.

  • I loaded this list into Dispatcharr and then went through and tested and added what looked interesting to my channel list. Right now I have 60 channels that I can watch via Jellyfin.

These include movie channels, news channels (from several countries). music videos, comedy, documentary. Also streams dedicated to older shows like CSI, Beavis and Butthead, etc.

Mostly I watch music video channels while I'm working or doing chores. News when I want news, and Buzzr because I like old game shows when I just want something chill.

ETA: Here you can find links to all the lists https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv/blob/master/PLAYLISTS.md

  • I've recently been getting into free IPTV streams. There are 1000s and 1000s and free streams from all over the world in pretty much every language with over 2000 in English alone. Most are not geo blocked. You can find a list here: https://iptv-org.github.io/

  • If you want the highest quality, lowest cost, and most convenient listening experience (especially portable) then get CDs. If you enjoy the ritual of using the turntable and you also want something that looks good on the wall, get vinyl.

Or do like me and get some of both!

  • Yes, I think part of the trick is that the CEO is a great video producer and has a large fanbase for his yt channel who are very enthusiastic about his ideas even if they won't actually buy such a phone.

  • I think the problem is that they grossly over estimated how many people actually wanted to buy a "legit" Commodore branded Commodore Ultimate when they came up with the idea to buy the Commodore brand.

Now they are trying to come up with ways to make it profitable but they don't really seem to understand Product Market Fit.

I think it would be a better idea to do some high quality branded merch.

  • Maybe I'm missing what point you're making, but I just don't see how "you can buy a long cable" is worthy of a HN post.

  • I thought it was common knowledge that you can plug a desktop computer into a TV, but I guess not?

  • It must be a sign of something that a person submits a link to Hacker News about plugging in an HDMI cable and how excited they are about that.

  • I run into my share of disagreeable people. I just block and move on. I rarely waste my time giving them any engagement at all. For me at least, there aren't actually that many I needed to block, just a loud few.

  • I don't experience that in the comms I frequent. Do you have an example thread?

  • I do think the Ultimate C64 is very nice. If it came out 5-6 years ago I would have bought it. By the time it came out tho, I have already put together a couple of my own "ultimate" C64s. For someone who is starting from scratch I would certainly suggest a Commodore Ultimate.

For me, I've been hoping they would do something more like the Mega65.

  • That's the thing. I already have almost a dozen original and remake Commodore 64s. Also Plus/4, C128, and so on. I don't know who the target market of the new Commodore is, but it doesn't feel like its me.
