  • I'm convinced social media algorithms show you content you choose not to see because they count "don't show me this again" as engagement.

  • The other option is bombing kids.

  • Vance is smarter and more youthful than Trump. He's backed by technocrats. I find him insufferable. I hope his base does too should he ever get his hands on the presidency because he has the potential to be more dangerous than Trump.

  • It's not paranoia. The internet is legitimately dying.

  • Highly doubt an AI would ever write "everyperson"

  • What an absolutely pathetic life that is holy shit

  • Lemmy seems to be the only place with actual people for the most part. I worry so heavily for the idiots of the world that can't discern robots from people. They're really going to fall for what a programmed machine has to say.

  • My stepdad went maga after getting a brain tumor. Wish I was making that up.

  • It's a matter of rhetoric a lot of the times with the states. We don't invade countries, we defend democracy. Our government doesn't spy on us, they protect homeland security. Etc etc

  • That actually sucks. Googles SEO algorithms force websites to homogenize.

  • There's so much "work" done in our capitalist society that is actively creating a drag on our lives, all to extract more money from us to the billionaire class. It will never be enough for them. Bezos and Fuckerberg would own slaves if the state allowed them to.

  • I deleted my TikTok after my comment was removed. I said "gross" to some people being racist. Yes, apparently just the word gross is enough. I knew this was coming. Censorship of the internet was my first concern when AI started to be rolled out. It's getting bad to the point I no longer want to participate.

  • Yup, as long as there's a group of people with a shared understanding, any symbol can be compromised. All it takes is the right context for understanding.

  • I used to think it was ridiculous to say 👌🏼 is used as a sign for white nationalists. Now I believe it. The whole point of a dog whistle is for it to be hidden in plain sight.

  • That's a task for a different administration.

  • Then when they end up on the street they're homeless, and homeless people don't matter ☺️ /s but also people really don't give a fuck about homeless people.

  • For a profit as well.

  • Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. Jean-Paul Sartre
