    Do any asthmatics take something like oral prednisolone as opposed to inhaled corticosteroids? Is it a recognized standard of treatment if the latter fails or even just a valid alternative per se?

  • I would imagine it’s an emergency basis.

    Typical line of treatment goes:

    1. Emergency inhaler as needed (albuterolVentolinProAir) for mild asthma

    2. Maintenance inhaler (daily inhaled steroid) for moderate asthma

    3. Maintenance tablet (Singulairmontelukast) for moderate asthma with allergies
    4. Nebulizer treatments of 30ish min albuterol concentrate for bad flare upsbad chronic asthma
    5. Short term steroid treatments for pneumoniaemergency applications
    6. Oxygen tanks for COPDbad emergency ER trips, usually by ambulance

    Buuut that’s experience in the US with asthma. Other places in the world may differ.

    Unless you spend more labor-hours on cooking vats of rice and dry beans (or similar “low cost, affordable” options) and sticking to that exclusively it’s not going to meaningfully increase the meals you can eat.

    As long as OP only has themselves to feed I don’t see an issue with this choice.

  • When I think of a scam, I think a one-off, obviously amateur attempt. An email with awful grammar saying the government will fine me a bajillion dollars if I don’t download a file is a scam. A scam will also leave you alone.

    A grift is done by career slimeballs. Used car salesmen, big C-suites and corrupt politicians are grifters. It’s more offensive and more aggressive. You can’t escape a grift.

  • Bring back public broadcasting on both a federal and state/city level.

    Fund the aggressive development of walkable greenspace, boost public transit and put measures in place to keep it un-gentrified.

    Set up a public fund for trans folks of all ages to get appropriate gender-affirming care (medical, clothing, etc) and cover legal fees.

    Make sure no kid ever has to pay for a decent school meal ever again.

    And once those and any other QoL ideas I get are done; game and bake like nobody’s business lol. And set up a full blown home lab, and pick up VR again.
