  • The Oxford English Dictionary defines sex as “physical activity between two people in which they touch each other’s sexual organs, and which may include sexual intercourse”... seeing that the koi, despite being hapless, is not a people, and it doesn't sound like the pervert touched the koi's sexual organs, I'm going to have to say that they did not have sex.

Also, is 51 considered a senior citizen in Thailand?

  • He blocks the camera but not the mic... you'd think someone accessing his microphone would be much more of a security risk that accessing his camera.

  • Just like the bible, conservatives only care about specific parts of the Constitution.

  • This is a great question, but I feel that the better question is: If a model was trained on open source code, should all code created by that model then be subject to the licensing from the code it was trained on?

I'm really hoping we can fix the current issues with the Supreme Court before this question comes before it because it's going to be hilarious when every company that has used AI assisted coding is forced to publish their source code.

  • I thought it was pretty clear that Bob Dylan was God. Did I just read too much into it?

And Kimi is also a woman's name.

  • My neighborhood has a neighborhood pool as well as an HOA... and managing the pool is about the only thing the HOA does. The annual dues are only $250, and the whole HOA board rotates membership about every 3 to 5 years. It's about the best HOA situation I can imagine.

  • Because sometimes in life there are nuances and it is possible to mention one of those topics in a neutral manner, but the absolute hostility held here against anyone who tries to have a conversation beyond "_____ sucks ass!" is exhausting.

  • "Get me someone in there who has the evidence!"

    trump (probably)

  • You're on Lemmy... any statements about AI, Musk, trump, McConnell, etc that aren't over-the-top against them will be met with downvotes.

  • the sales tax kills little kids in other countries

I agree with you, shop where you have to and do what you need to do to get by... sorry it's so rough for you at the moment, but I did want to let you know that at least your sales tax money isn't killing kids in other countries because the state gets the sales tax. Hopefully that helps just a little bit.

And, since the baby killing money comes from income tax, if you're low income hopefully you can at least rest easy knowing that you're contributing less to the baby killing machine.

The above is all mostly tongue in cheek, I feel for you and certainly don't want to make light of a tough situation, but I'm hoping you at least got a smile out of it.

  • And in the case of Telegram, if they did that why would anyone sign up for their premium account?

I tried using Telegram and the amount of spam I would receive was annoying, but what was even more annoying was finding out that the 'Restrict messages from users not in your contacts' setting is paywalled. Telegram profits off of the spammers on their network.

  • So... back to my question: what should they do instead?

  • That's true, but sitting in a warehouse is costing someone money and I'm sure they were more than happy to sell the books even if they knew they'd eventually get destroyed.

But the other thing is, what should these companies do instead? They scraped the internet and got skewered for that. They pirated books and got in trouble for that. Now they are legally purchasing books to scan. They can't donate or sell the books since they've effectively copied the book and that would get them into piracy trouble again.

  • The biggest loss is probably the fact that destroying the physical books removes them from circulation

And these are books that have been sitting in warehouses that haven't been able to be sold because no one wanted them. They were removed from circulation long ago.

  • I think you hit the nail with 'no camera'. Honestly, a camera isn't needed... if you want a picture, use your phone. If you want a POV image or video, use a Go Pro.

Smart glasses should be a display only (well, maybe speakers too).

  • It's also a reasonable number of students who would read the answer before just blindly putting it into the answer sheet.

  • 32 out of the 35 students across two classes simply copied the question, pasted it into a chatbot, then copy and pasted its output into the answer window

So, 3 students proofread the output and removed the offending sentences from their answer?

  • So the issue is that he entered a code that wiped his data, but what is he entered a code that opened a dummy profile?
