  • The reason to run the reverse proxy with Jellyfin is for the encryption. It's written in the documentation that way. It's why I still run Plex. I never finished getting through their steps to get the reverse proxy setup for the encryption.

    It's like I said you use a car to go to work and you reply AKSUALLY a car runs on TIRES. The OP didn't say CAR.

  • He said an encrypted tunnel does nothing. I don't even run Jellyfin but that statement is false.

  • Which Plex does by default. He doesn't understand that running Plex at home opens itself up to the Internet. I specifically referenced a CVE that let hackers into your home if you ran Plex.

  • Jellyfin doesn't open up your network unless you specifically allow remote access exactly like Plex. The only difference is Jellyfin doesn't have the encrypted tunnel built in- you need to know it needs it and add it yourself.

  • The K1 is marketed as a competitor to the Bambu P1s, CC, Anycubic S1 etc. It should work without tinkering. Unless you are building your own Voron, modern printers reliably work out of the box. It's not 10 years ago when 3d printing was like home cnc machining.

  • The user was talking about how his Creality K1 didn't print reliably. You responded by saying that a 3d printer, (you didn't specify your particular ender ) is like a cnc.

    Just get a bambu

    I already said that Bambu has deserved reputation to hate it. I said I have an Anycubic S1 and a Snapmaker U1.

    If you want to build a Voron, that's great. But the OP was complaining about a K1.

  • That's how it was 10 years ago. For all the deserved hate, Bambu changed things dramatically. They made 3d printing an appliance, not a hobby.

    Every printer in the last 3 years should be expected to work like an appliance. My cheap S1 has required many replacement parts over its thousands of hours but works like a laser printer. My U1 is a tank. Perfect prints and I've never once done a manual calibration.

  • Yes all those features (compression is one of many ) are stupid, few if any actually use them, and it unnecessarily complicates everything.

    I even hate edid. It keeps kvms from working.

  • Display Port has fancy features like Display Stream Compression where the driver compresses the image going to the screen.

    The solution would be for MS to move those features into Windows rather than allow manufacturers flexibility in implementation. MS would get bad publicity for monopoly and then have to deal with fixing Windows for every off brand monitor because the manufacturer didn't follow the standard exactly.

  • Oddly solder isn't best in most situations. Vibration and/or thermal cycling can cause solder to fail where crimps, wago or twist cannot fail. I learned it from Wil Prowse the solar/whole house battery expert where he compared crimps to solder.

    It seemed obvious in retrospect because I have fixed many old electronics where the problem was a cold solder joint that needed a touch up with a soldering iron. Decades of thermal cycling from use cause micro fractures in the solder that get worse and worse.
