  • An infant requires more constant care than a dying elderly. Parents are on rotation 24/7 for the first year. That's more than elderly get in hospice.

Moneywise it's $600k for a child. $400k from parents. $200k from the state for the free k-12 education.

Elderly on average have $200k in savings age 65-74 and spend $155k in medical costs their last 3 years.

Children are more expensive in money and direct labor.

  • Average 64-75 have $200k savings and spend $155k for last 3 years.

A child takes $600k. ($300k from parents. $100k college. $200k paid by state to cover the free k-12.)

  • Cost per child is $300k, $400k including college. The state (which means workers' taxes) chip in an average of $17k / year for k-12 which is another $200k. That's $600k per child, not including the free labor from the parents.

The average savings for someone 65-74 is $200k. End of life costs are $155k for the last 3 years.

  • Land isn't unlimited. Physical resources aren't unlimited. For example while a person can manufacture more batteries, with more people on the planet each battery will be more expensive for everyone because each is vying for the same limited resources that are used to make a battery.

I also wouldn't say that low birthrate is caused by capitalism but by over population. No economic system can sustain unlimited growth. When too many are competing for too few resources, there is no time for families.

  • Senior citizens become people to take care of,

Children need more resources to raise than seniors take.

  • Except for population to grow it requires children which also don't work, require more resources than elderly, and at the end of 20 years instead of freeing up resources (by dying like the elderly), continue to consume resources.

  • I think there's a difference between a government using your property for political purposes and an individual using your property for parody.

  • But clearly a historical Poseidon existed or there wouldn't have been so much literature written about him.

There are eye witness testimonies in the Illiad.

  • So you installed fresh from an ISO downloaded from Microsoft and it didn't setup Onedrive during install? When was your download? As I said, mine was from around Sept from last year. Or did you use something like Rufus to make an install? MS has said they were doing some deshitification to handle the rampocalpse.

I'd really like to be able to replicate your experience the next time I install Windows.

  • I have an Anycubic S1 and a Snapmaker U1. I really like the U1. 4 completely independent tool heads is huge not just for multicolor but for functional prints where you need to mix materials like TPU and have reliable removeable supports (by using PETG for supports which sticks to nothing but the build plate.)

  • Are you in the US? Because there was no way to disable Onedrive during install when I last installed Win11 about a year ago. This is Win11 Pro.

  • I don’t have onedrive, i’m not being hounded to set it up, i don’t see it. I don’t have copilot, I don’t have AI, hell I don’t even have any ads in my start menu.

I'm not a Linux cultist but come on. You know it took a lot of configuration from the defaults to get there. Or are you running some special LTSC Win11?

  • They compared sugar to the worst known addictive substance- opiates. Alcohol is far less addictive than opiates. Therefore, despite a lack of quantizing what is "less", it is likely that sugar is more addictive than alcohol.

  • I came here to post this!

  • Upvote because you are right. Doenvote for the unnecessary insult.

  • I'm sure they tested it and found that enough customers would stay to make it profitable.

Consumers, especially Apple users, accept higher prices. It's baffling to me but true.

In 2014, Netflix was $8/month. It's now 12 years later and Netflix is $20/month.

  • if it tasted like a full fat Coke, lol.

Sugar is more addictive than alcohol.

  • My wife.

  • Thanks! I thought it was just me.
