  • My take is that bluesky is owned by a corporation making a protocol (AT protocol) to Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

    See example, Microsoft trying to convert the internet to only run on its own browser. Or Google enticing websites to use AMP, only to entrap those sites to only use Google's ad services.

    When profit drives development, enshittification is not a matter of if, but when.

    How is development of ActivityPub protocol funded? Volunteers and their grants, crowdfunding, and enthusiasm, as far as I can tell. @.@ Idk if it's a reason objectively worth supporting FOSS for, but I love when people pool together for their community's greater good.

    Why make a bluesky account when you have all the different platforms that already run ActivityPub? Want a youtube replacement? Peertube!For Reddit, Lemmy.Instagram, Pixelfed.Twitter, Mastodon.Interact with all on the same account? Sure!

    But with bluesky? Nope.

    TL;DR, we knew the ryzen 5 cpu and its old mobo worked at least once before.

    The ryzen 5 5600x came from their old pc, which worked at a pc repair shop. Its previous issue was no display, but they diagnosed it as the old gpu was shot; the pc worked when they switched out the gpu and beefed up the PSU (their parts though). Also, the old case's pcie brackets were partly sawed off for god-knows-why, so maybe the old gpu had too much wiggly-wiggly going on to live for long.

    We picked up a replacement gpu (a borrowed 2070, probably going to give it back) and a new PSU, plugged it in at home - no power. Two possibly dead gpus, a sketchy af pcie slot, and nothing else to test with. Pretty unfortunate. We just assumed since nothing particularly pointed to the ryzen 5 as wrong yet, it was okay and maybe the mobo wasn't.

    So we picked up a working low-end donor pc to mess with and probably part back out on fb because -- why pay 75$ for a two to four week repair ETA and be told to buy new parts again? Now here I am, haha.

    It's relevant because the key to speed reading is not recognizing the shape of each word at a time faster, but reading words in larger and larger groups at a time faster. You know that voice inside your head reading the words aloud? Soon, you just stop hearing it. Then you realize speed reading was a skill of speed comprehension the whole time.

    I'm in the "one. Word. At. A. Time. In. Rapidfire. Even. If. Someone's. Speaking. Them. At. One. Point. Seventy. Five. Ex. Speed. Sucks. Ass." camp because, same, it distracts me from the rest of the screen, sometimes from the content. I can totally listen to a longform video at that speech pace, but if I had to watch. Subtitles. One. Word. At. A. Time, I'd claw my eyes out.
