  • Personally, I would put one of the 990 in the server, use it as system drive + storage for databases and such. Then, the EVO in NAS to store backups, as it's not very bandwidth sensitive and saves a little bit of lifespan out of the main SSD. And probably an extra copy of your restic repository onto the external 2TB SSD (though I would store that extra backup offsite on Backblaze B2)

    Oh, and you should probably set up restic's rest-server, it makes backuping from other computers really easy (easier than SFTP, which I had issues with)

  • It's frightening how the OSS ecosystem mostly centralized around GitHub. I've been trying all afternoon to debug issues with some libraries and most search results linked to GitHub... which spat out errors every single time.

  • To me it would be Gen 6 (PS2 / Xbox / GC) as it was not only the golden age of 3D platformers, but the developers were not afraid to regularly introduce new gameplay mechanics that were specific to a single level. Very few games do that nowadays, the most recent examples I can think of are Psychonauts 2, It Takes Two and Split Fiction.

  • I also have it, I find it quite tricky to work in it because of its compactness. In retrospect, I would have gone with a Fractal Design Define and some hack to enable drives hot swap.

    Your Readeck instance is the source of truth, every client syncs from it. A note though: Readeck does not have a cloud hosted version yet, it's supposed to be coming in the later part of the year.

    You can highlight pieces text and add comments to highlighted pieces, but no, you unfortunately cannot write down notes (like a summary) for a link.

  • You could use a bookmarks manager / read-it-later service where you'd save every article you read (or at least the ones you find most interesting). Most of them have a tagging system for organising by topic, some of them (including Readeck, the one I use) even locally save the article's content so you can search in it too, not just in the titles.

  • If I got it straight, users can ask certain websites to vouch for their "personhood" and get a token that proves it. What exactly prevents a human from creating a token and hand it to a bot or crawler? How is it helping websites operators to differenciate legitimate traffic from the rest?
