  • Probably cos you haven't been translating fuel pump instructions using a phone...

Which is, to be fair, the only place it has happened to me (hence i prefer counter service)

  • Cashless automatic pumps that require a deposit are rare

But getting more common. The ED in Oberzissen now have one pump with a payment device and Oberzissen is in the back end of nowhere.

As an almost completely illiterate (in German) English person I prefer the pay at a counter thing because the usually pleasant person behind the counter can just accept the payment. This is good because getting a phone out to translate the instructions often results in an irate German shouting at you.

  • they'd likely be unrelated to any changes in vaccine disinformation

Not necessarily true. If they were vulnerable adults for whom the vaccination had little/no effect or who were immunosuppressed, for whatever reason, herd immunity amongst the younger population would have protected them. Now it doesn't, thanks to the anti-vaxxer in chief.

  • The DLR is fully automated, though there is a fold away drivers position for use when necessary. iirc It never runs at street grade and sometimes does have software issues which makes things interesting.

I am pretty sure the victoria line has drivers for show. It was one of the very first lines to be automated and, at the time, it was thought that passengers would panic if there were no driver, so they kept with tradition.

  • Never heard of it. Lived in England/Wales for 59 years... Will ask wife, who was a chef.

Ok. So now I know it's what is used in steak sandwiches.

I have never heard or read its name before - mostly because it is sold in places I don't frequent (or by food wholesalers) but also because I don't often have steak sandwiches.

Every day is a school day I guess.

  • Take the cash on an commercial international flight without prior arrangements being made.

Obviously you could fly it around in your own 747 if you wanted to, but border controls invariably get twitchy when comparitively small sums of cash are transported.

  • They are just about as bullet proof as the cars are self driving. Dunno why anyone might think that they would actually be bullet proof, given Musk's track record...

  • My wife is an introvert. It took 7 years of very innocent twice a year meeting at camp and someone else shoving us together for us to think about becoming an item. Been married for 8 years now (together for 13). Sometimes these things just happen. Top tip is not to try too hard.

  • Ah that ditty with similar lyrics, by Infected Mushroom, is now running through my head...

  • Where's the bloody bog?

  • Funny Autoincorrect...

  • IANAL however.... Your daily storage rate is way too low. It will cost you more to get what they owe you than you will get out of them.

Send them a letter changing the rate to £250 a day and stating payment terms of 30 days.

You have to be (legally) reasonable, so give them 14 or 28 days to get something sorted, after which the new rate will apply.

You should send them (snail mail and email) invoices every week reminding them of their ongoing commitment to paying you.

They may not pay you, in which case you have to go through small claims (Google it) or sue them to get the money they agreed to pay you (by not removing the vehicle after you gave them a reasonable time to comply) the former costs you time and effort the latter cost time effort and money.

In my experience, once invoices for significant sums start adding up to being a PITA for them, things will happen. Once the car is gone you have to decide if it is worth your time and effort to chase down the invoices. Hint - it probably isn't.

I got rid of incompetent bailiff companies this way (they kept buying a debt that someone had taken out using my address as theirs and the original loan company didn't check)

tl;dr - you have to make it worth their while to make you go away whilst being cool, collected and, above all, reasonable.

  • That's not how loans work for little people.... It totally is how loans work for oligarchs because the money they get from the loan provider is tax free so no income tax.

  • Err they do if you order online for collection - their staff pick your order and bring it out to you. You just park in a bay, check in and someone brings your shit.

Granted they, generally, don't carry your shit from the checkout to your car if you do the shopping...

  • We, here in the UK, for all our faults, have waaaay fewer school shootings.... In fact way fewer shootings altogether (even when multiplied by ~5 for relative population size)

  • In the UK it seems to be...

    Call: What do we want?

    Response: X

Call: When do we want it?

    Response: Now

    Followed by/Or

    X! x! x!

    Out! out! out!

  • Forced to upload a picture is because you chose the wrong post type.

I got caught by that when I started using Voyager.

  • I think "first lady" is referring to the absence of Meliana and omnipresence of Musk at Trump's side rather than saying Musk is/identifies as female.

Still, as you say, an unwise choice of words because the phrase can be taken a couple of/a few ways.
