  • Just because a writer isn't consciously aware of doing it intentionally doesn't mean it wasn't part of the process that happened in their brain

  • *curation

  • Oh yeah fluorescent tubes are a awful. They're not white, they're sequentially yellow blue yellow blue yellow blue

  • Interestingly enough crts didn't seem to cause a problem, my guess is because the pixel phosphors don't actually flash off, they fade out. But that's just a guess

  • I don't see how that fits. The events of the past decade can't be adequately explained by stupidity alone

  • I meant the entire country purposely not having any backups for years is what would take a ton of people acting conspiratorially

  • If they're that inept then they wouldn't have been able to pull off this vast plot that includes hundreds of people doing it over many years

  • Hanlon's razor, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

And also Occam's razor, for this to be done on purpose would require a vast plot including hundreds of people doing it for years.

  • I still see it in even the most modern projectors, but I'm also able to see the flicker in phones that use pwm dimming which only a very small percent of people can see, so sucks to be me. My eyes seem to work at a much higher image capture rate than most people, which has no apparent benefits, only problems

  • I was referring to the spinning color wheel that op was taking about, but yeah the simultaneous three color projector likely doesn't have that problem

  • Although i do like math, it's very easy for me to understand why someone wouldn't. Just think about any subject that you dislike, and now you know the approximate feeling of someone not liking math

  • RGB flashing sequentially is the wooooooorst. Most people can't see it but holy shit i can and it's like random colored strobes flashing everywhere. Bleh

  • There's nothing that a little mango pickle can't fix

  • Seriously? Huh, that surprises me. Indian food is so rich with flavors and aromas that i would've thought other cuisines would be very easy to consume

  • Correct, it was the built it disk utility app on Mac. I had a giant drive with a few partitions and clicked to do a zero pass and it finished in a half second. Obviously there was no way it completed that fast. I did some empirical testing based on completion time and sure enough it only zeroes a single partition rather than the entire disk

  • I've found that on some systems and some utility apps, if there are partitions present then doing a zeroing pass only zeros the partition rather than the entire drive itself

  • If it's a spinning disk hard drive then do a low level format i.e. do a security write zeros on the whole disk (be sure to delete all partitions first). This will try to write a zero to every single sector, and any bad sectors will be removed from use.

  • Sucks for most users, but i bet there's at least one person who is like "holy fuck I'm saved!" Because now he can blame the server destruction for why he doesn't have that big project done tomorrow

  • Hm, not really, paper dolls are something else. Do an image search for that term. I think these are cutouts, or paper men
