  • Mitch was great, but I can only watch his style of comedy for so long before I have to move on. Dan Mintz (Tina from Bob's Burgers) has a similar style, and it's funny, but I can't stick around too long for quick shit one liners.

    Their highlight reels are top shelf though.

  • It's really seldom, but a few years back there was a government website that only worked with chrome or edge that I had to use. I had one the other night and found a work around. It's a rare occurrence, and usually I can avoid it, but sometimes I have to just suck it up, do the deed, and bail.

  • I used to work in manufacturing and we made a sort of tube socket that was cadmium plated on the outside and chrome plated on the inside.

    I wonder how many people got cancer plating those things. Ironically, all of the platers were in California because it was banned for new plating centers in most other states.

  • This is disappointing to see. I like Sand and think that outside of this, he's a great candidate. He's still by far the best option for Iowa governor in the upcoming election. We're coming off Reynolds, one of the worst governor's in the entire country who has dealt blow after blow to Iowans.

    The alternative is Zach Lahn, who's a typical maga psycho. After he won his primary, he specifically attacked Sand for his stance in allowing trans people in sports. If he wins, Iowa will further doom spiral to the bottom of the barrel.

    I'm not at all condoning the stance the article says Sand is taking on trans athletes, but as significant as this issue is especially to some people, he's mostly a solid dude. I hope single issue voters don't avoid the polls out of apathy over this.

  • I don't know where it's operated out of, but I use libro.fm instead of audible. You can download the audiobooks you purchase so you get a drm free copy, but they do also have a subscription model. An added bonus is that some of the profits are donated to libraries. I believe you maybe can specify which library your money goes to.

    Even if it's US based, at least there's that benefit.

  • If a distro gets filled with LLMs and those require upstream resources whether for frontier models or to maintain and update local models, that requires money. Some for that potential overhead, but also funding to support the development to implement those features.

    If one distro spends resources to implement LLMs and another doesn't, when that bubble pops, the group that invested will likely have less money having spent more.
