  • There is still a pretty solid divide between us and our technology (for now). We still type on keyboards with our hands and make prosthetics. It gets blury when discussing things through a medium where technology is the means of communication. I could be an AI, you could be a robot, we "humans" already cant really tell the difference most of the time. I think your prediction would hold true when the integration between meat and machine starts being physically indistinguishable.

  • Runner who has done a marathon here, I think the wall your hitting is when your body is switching gears from warm-up to cardio. Everyone is suggesting the couch-to-5/10k programs and that may help. I would suggest pushing your time spent running a bit further, more time doing cardio should improve things.

I just restarted my long-run training for the year (because its not cold outside anymore, and I want to run a race this year, its been a bit) and just passed that point where I can just go without having to take walking breaks on my "default loop".

Also goals, having something to look forward to or to work towards helps a lot. Keep up the good work.

  • Ok, so its a post on the artist formerly known as twitter. He has people who can post that for him, thats not a confirmation he isnt at the hospital.

  • Dito, most major outlets and companies that used to do fun things in the past for marketing or for fun have stopped. It used to be my favorite holiday, now adays... Its dry and the humor just isnt there anymore.

  • Quickly Mr. President, help me bring the guests to your fancy ballroom a cask of amontillado we keep in the secret bunker.

  • Ok, ill bite.

1/2) I guess technically pokemon, but I didnt classify that as anything different than normal saturday morning cartoons until much later in life. Since ~2007, serialized weekely episodes have been my personal time keeper and I pick atleast one show to follow each season. (Right now its Frieren)

    1. as for favorite show... Gurren Laggan, tastes change over the years but it remains the most motivational show, the score still slaps all these years later and it was the peak of studio Ginax/ soon-to-be Triggers golden years. I rewatch it once a year and its one of the few shows I have on disk.
    2. for worst show... Ive sat through some real stinkers, but I never got mad at a show until Shield Hero... Portal fantasy/Isakai as a sub-genre is overdone as a plot/set up mechanism and rarely do new shows do anything different with that established formula. Following tropes and trends is usually fine (a lot of these shows are media junk food anyway), but in this shows case they just drop the ball so intentionally it felt like a rug pull.

  • Arguing is not contradicting everything I say.

    Yes it is.

    Stop that.

  • A code red on the waffle house index would imply the resturant is gone. Clearly the teleporter is still working so it cant be that bad.

  • Wishful thinking, a messy internal power struggle as Vance is not the cult of personality. Things do not improve but the wild tactless nonsense stops for a brief moment as we await the midterms.

  • I feel like that one line from Kingsman (the good one, right before the fight scene in the church) is appropriate here.

Harry Hart: [to bigoted church lady] I'm a Catholic whore, currently enjoying congress out of wedlock with my black Jewish boyfriend who works at a military abortion clinic. So, hail Satan, and have a lovely afternoon, madam.

  • Sing me a song about shitty copper.

  • Better countries have proven they do not need to be the way they are. The EU Shengen area let the policies of the era of empires and kingdoms fall away while preseving a countries identity. The current US system can be described as "cruel by design" and needs to be removed and its facilitators barred from civil service.

  • That was because the guard rails were still in place.

  • Nah... My office does, and then pays a vendor to handle the issues (I work in IT, fixing those problems is literally my job) and they still cheap out on knock off toner (some of which works). It makes me sad...

  • Thats like asking what hammer is best. You can use most if not all to drive nails, but not all are best suited for the task.

Pop_OS lets Ubuntu drive fast and break things while focusing hardware/driver support, makes it great for video games. The only program Ive ever had issues with is Davinci Resolve, but those issues with linux compatibility are of their own creation, not the OSs.

  • He very clearly shit himself while on TV a few weeks ago, and its not headline news because reality is crazy town these days. I fully expect the day they announce he croaks to be a lie and they have been "Weekend at Burnies"ing him around for atleast 72 hours prior.

If that happens early next year around his terms half-way point I fully expect a "Death of Stalin" scenerio (from the begining of the film, where they have to find the best Dr in Moscow, but cant, because they threw them all out of the country and finding one would mean the violated Stalins orders) because if Vance has to server for more than half the remaining term, he can only run for re-election once.

  • Thank you for the correction, been a long time since Ive been around higher ed.

  • State accrediation is usually harder to get than the national one. When looking at schools (if you give a shit on where the degree is from) the state accred is what your looking for. If it has just the national accred, then be warry of it being a diploma mill. If it has neither, dont bother, they are likely run by a cult.

What I feel is going to happen is that companies will stop viewing that degree as favorably and pick applicants with stronger credentials. Worst case is that people with social science degrees from florida schools wont be able to breaking into job fields related to the degrees that are having the state intervene on the subject matter, but that will take years to notice if it happens at all.

  • Ill throw shit at hobby lobby and hate chicken because they are national chains and their owners views are abhorent. However, im not familiar with the views of Waffle House's owners, but their locations are almost entirely in the deep south. I dont expect anything worse than bog standard social ignorance from some of their owners and a policy to not wear politics in the office (thus this headline coming as a suprise), but please correct me if im wrong.

The memes about Waffle House along with a few other establishments are there because they never close, are in well traveled places and are desperation food. To quote someone else from the internet, "You dont go to a Denny's, you end up at a Denny's"

  • Its that reason why I say everyone is a nerd about something.

Yah, you may be talking to the former school jock/football star who was barely handed their diploma, but ask them about their sport/the industries around it. You will likely get a better lesson on statistics and managment that you can get out of most text books. (Assuming you can keep the conversation focused)

People usually like talking about their interests.
