Plus most of it is old office equipment saved from the trash. Only stuff that I purchased is the gaming PC when thats due for a rebuild and all the wires...
4-6 screens... EvE Online player who has a different account on each screen. Primary is lower left, the alts all get scattered on the others. And screens 5/6 are technically a seperate PC, but I use Synergy to share a mouse and keyboard.
Most games live on screen 1, which is also routed through a capture card. (I need to fix the audio passthrough, project for future me)
Hello, Y2K called, this is literally what caused it. Years stored in 2-digits had to be fixed on every computer on the planet before the calendar rolled to 2000. (People thought nukes would fly, glitches would crash the stock market and the world was going to end)
Unlike the Jackson administration (yes, its been that long since the executive branch has been allowed to participate in duels, and thats for a very good reason, he was a lunatic) guns actually fire where you point then. Unless they insist on using some antique smoothbore, someones getting hurt. I would not put it past them that actually hurting your opponent is not the point of formal duels.
Whoo. ISO-8601 fan club. Its so much easier for computers to sort dates in that format. I insist on using it for documents at work and Excel even handles it better with less formatting issues. I do wish they covered it in schools earlier, its neat, logical and works best when everyone is on the same page.
Which ring? Limbo aint so bad, just windy, Oklahoma building codes would be more than sufficent, and you get to pal around with all the famous people who croaked before big J showed up. Real estate in some of the lower rings should get pretty cheap, you would not need much infrastructure for heating and cooling as the tempeature varies wildly between the rings (which according to Dante, are atleast walking distance apart)
I personally would set up an ice rink adventure camp on ring 9. Cocytus does not appear to thaw, so long as you dont mind skating around the traitors frozen in the ice and stay an arms length from Lucifer, you can probably set up a pretty good tourist trap.
This is exactly what happened for my favorite tech support call of all time was. Worked support for a biotech firm and the site director and his EA went to some conference out of state. Went out of my way to make sure nothing would expire and they could use the VPN, usual due diligence and such. Get a very paniced call on the last day and they say there is nothing wrong, but the EA was freaking out as a ton of nerds in costume just showed up. I did some digging about the venue and found out it was the same con I attended in high school.
Spent the next while explaining what anime and anime conventions were to a very eastern-european middle-aged woman and her boss. Oh the tales of tech support.
I get that people dont want big corpo mega projects in their back yards, but I live in one of these areas and have a counterpoint to one of their reasons regarding the local power grid.
The pressure on the grid is a thing planned out by the local municipality and the power authority, you dont get to just build a data center, then ask for electricity. This article glosses over the volume of effort that goes into accomodating these buildings and not trip breakers on the grid. (This does not address the enviromental impact of that extra power generation, that is a valid complaint)
The extra power infrastructure improves service for normal residents in areas around these data centers because of the redundancy. The reason these areas are chosen is because of their easy access to multiple electricity providers. (And a low risk index according to FEMA, and proximity to each other, data centers like to cluster up to share the infrastructure)
The high use of the water table is a valid complaint, but the buildings being an eye-sore is, I feel, toeing the line to NIMBYism (people complain about windmills all the time because they look "bad", data centers will usually try to look like a warehouse as part of their physical security). The capalists will allocate resources as they see fit, and thats just the reality these areas live in...
I call mine "The Magic Murder bag" in reference to venture bros.
It contains mostly tools, a towel, emergency rations, many power adapters, and personal tech. Noone else is allowed to touch it and its never more than 15 feet away from my person.
Ive also had several bags attempt to fill its role, but its only gotten heavier and only holds up to the weight for a few years. This version is a heavy duty messanger/laptop bag with a seatbelt (and buckle) as the strap.
I would totally take one for 15k (only if its used, never from tesla itself) take the batteries out, sell those and put the frame on a truck and drive it out to an event or protest and let people smash whats left. Let people rent a sledge hammer for a bit and vent, would be a fun and very public statement. Once thats done sell it as scrap. The batteries should alone should cover the next one.
