Without a shadow of a doubt the best option would be not use them at all.
The reason for migrating would be for those that care about privacy and are addicted to the most well known ones. Many of the alternatives are a more private and ad-free option.
Signing up shouldn't be that much of a task, and then share that you have with others, in the hope that they will too.
That's why (if addicted to SM) you only need sign up for free (hardly a task) - and then just share with friends that you have. Check back in a few weeks and see if others have signed up. When enough have, then start using it, until it is good enough to dump the other.
I don't use SM apart from this and a few dedicated forums, but I don't get why anyone would be on any of them to begin with, regardless if my friends are on it or not.
Yes, I rang the embassy a few times (very hard to get through). I eventually got a guy who didn't know anything. I am guessing he was learning. He didn't know anything at all about even where to apply. I may try them again tomorrow. I have found anchorless now too. They look and seem less 'American'.

It's doubtful that the kid 'fooled' it.
It's far more likely that it's programmed to let any kids that try to circumvent it, 'fool' it.
I don't use any social media other than this, and maybe a few music/audio forums.
But. I honestly don't get why more haven't moved to Pixelfed or Nerimity, as they are far more privacy focused (not very hard comparing to anything Meta).
If it's lack of communities/people, why not use the meta platform to advertise one of those two, the way everyone did the "je suis Charlie" thing that was all over the news a few years ago?

For example Textmagic might be (slightly) higher cost per message than you're used to, but as they offer Pay As You Go, you can limit that when suits.
Clicksend is more affordable than most, but it's GUI isn't beautiful. get past that and there's no issues.
There are others, but they're the ones I would look at first.
EU tries to encourage technology advances in EU and promote digital sovereignity.
EU wants to impose restrictions on any advances without really understanding why, or what they are talking about.
I was looking forward to getting Ubuntu touch on my phone, I hunted down a decent phone within my price range and installed it on to it.
I knew straight away I didn't like it.
But, hopefully they'll keep moving forward with it, and I'll look at it again in the future.
I love the idea of it, it just wasn't for me in its current form back then.

Out of all the search engines, AskJeeves was in the best position to use AI and pretend to be somebody answering a question.
But the reality is, it was a terrible search engine with results that were unrelated to the question most of the time.
