There are also a ton more people doing a lot of niches, so now you get fewer views.
So it's tougher to crack. Surely a better way to rise to the top would be to have fewer or no adverts, and better content.

That I can agree on, but then again, how would they even sell their product if there's no advertisement? The companies that don't charge too much and then stuff some of it into advertisement, tend to go under.
I am not against advertising as a tool. I'm mainly referring to the companies that will pay crazy money for advertising, and pass that expense on to the end users. Blanket advertising, shouldn't be allowed, it also allows the bigger, wealthier companies to drown out the smaller and start up companies.

Creator doesn't really know if you have premium or not and many users (me) will also have adblock so they don't get a cent from these views. That's why many will show you ad-free videos on Patreon or Nebula. No sponsor segments if they know you're a paying customer.
That's why YouTube Premium should be the same as Patreon or Nebula. The creators should be querying YouTube about working something out there, instead of hitting the users with ads that they thought they had paid to get rid of.
I also would suspect that this case would be more about about the letter of the law, and not about what's expected from the creators etc. If YouTube are marketing an ad free experience to people that pay for the service, then this is what it should be. Overall, if anything, this case should work out better for everyone except probably Google. YouTube would have to find a better way/payment to allow creators to have two videos without making too much extra work for them. One for premium and one for non premium.
There is still product placement etc. Subtle suggestions and other methods that I'm sure many businesses would still pay for.

Unless they are referring to paid advertisements by the creators.

The creators would presumably take a cut/fee from YouTube for showing their content ad-free. sponsorblock already does something similar.

Creators already get paid very well for posting on YouTube.

A good rule of thumb for me is, if I see adverts on YouTube and on TV for the same company or product, then they are charging too much..

I choose to avoid them.

if somebody is advertising a small company/startup etc..

Go for it.

But if a creator has ads on premium that costs x amount each month.

This is purely performative, but won't be overturned.

it's unlikely that spurious/generic parts will work unless they want them to, and even then they'll be less effective.

Their official parts will likely be more expensive, so they'll be easier to repair, but cost a lot more, instead of paying the repair shop.

The devices or machines will no longer become waste as much, but the parts will. Warranties will be voided etc.

What would've been a better law to introduce would be introducing a minimum time limit on planned obsolescence with the right to repair.

Also, in the EU many countries have law that supercedes EU warranty.

If your device has an inherent defect (was always going to break no matter what you did with it) and sometimes may need to be proven in a court of law, The warranty can be extended to 7 years (some countries are shorter).

For example if you buy a TV, and after 4 years it develops a fault outside the normal warranty, and you find out that, that model has a known fault that happens to a few of them, don't try to repair it and void the warranty.

It may be still protected by that warranty in your country.

Have you tried any of the restoration techniques? It doesn't sound like sticky shed (baking required), but more like oxide degradation or shedding (old age) Cleaning the tape, and trying a tape player that has tone control (equaliser too, but less so) to see what you can get out of it and backing it up. That whole process excites a few people, so you could actually sell the tape as it is, but would have to let them know first. Or you could give up DIY and invest in tape restoration professionals, whom I don't think are too expensive for obvious reasons.

But there are people that will pay for degraded tapes to try and restore them, and would have higher end audio equipment to play them on etc.

Search around for guides and whatever you think may be the issue, try those first if you don't fancy replacing the tape in the cassette.

"Super Easy to Defeat" is the now. They don't care about that.

They just need you to accept it, and move along.

In a few years time, it will not be "super easy to defeat" but will be standard practice and accepted law.

By that stage it will likely be too late to do anything. They will have tied it in with chat control and all of our data.

Can you imagine the freedom that will be discovered 50 years from now in a trend, when people decide to ditch their personal devices and live like they used to 70, 80 years ago (maybe even 60).

I agree. I don't know what way my head was thinking. I was thinking of the $60. $20 per month is doable, especially to those that have no other choice, but admittedly it would be a stretch. But the point is the pricing (not just for kagi).

$60 per year to search something is too much. But, the price of all tech is too high. It has never properly been structured and companies charge what they want.

$60 per year might be 'nothing' to you, but not all people in every developed nation would agree. ~~Many could feed 3 families or more on that for a month.~~ Edited because my brain exited for a minute.

Developed nation or not, the pricing structure of tech that has driven up the cost of everything around the world needs to be reigned in.

I could use:

Kagi free tier for 100 uses per month
Qwant - Free (do not collect or sell data)
Brave - Free (Claim not to collect data)
DDG - Free (do not collect or sell data)

And many more. So how is Kagi "Starter" worth $5 per month + sales tax and limited to 300 searches (Advertised as "Enough searches to get you going").

That argument could be repeated (and they hope it will be) as to why the 'professional' ($10 per month + tax) or 'ultimate' ($25 per month + tax) are better. Effectively saying that the $5 per month is barely worth paying for.

No, how often you would need to use a search engine that would give you the results that something like kagi would. price vs privacy is a great selling point as mentioned by somebody else, but $60 per year is probably regarded as a bit high to many users.

You could probably get similar results using many different engines for the same query, or their free tier, which could be good enough to get people to agree with their pricing. 🤷

Fuck sake.. there's no attempt to say that Irish slavery is a reason to downplay African Slavery.

Just because the Paddies were white (hard to see past the dirt on their faces in the old photos). The "indentured Servants" a.k.a Slavery did exist.. it doesn't belittle anything else.

It happened. it's a thing.

it's a thing a lot of the world tries to disown. But it happened.

Most are over it.

A lot of the Caribbean islands descendants are proof of both African and Irish Slaves.

Admittedly I didn't read past the first paragraph on that wiki. But it seemed like it's as good as denying anything else in history because it downplays other atrocities (which it doesn't).

It's just another example.

It's not "the Irish got it worse" etc.

Walking and dietary changes.

Even if it's a diet you can't stick to forever, sticking to it for a couple of months, or 10 weeks should make a big enough difference that you find many exercises easier to start, and then go from there. One step at a time instead of trying to achieve finished goal immediately, will probably work better for you.

Many races had slaves. Once a race or colony of people was conquered, the ones that were kept alive were found useful as slaves. The difference when America was discovered was they needed more and didn't bother conquering nation's anymore for land, they now had enough, they just took people. Before African Slaves, there were the Paddy slaves.
