  • Yes, they sat home because Biden went from 53% approval at the time they voted for him to 37% approval at the time of his dropping out, Kamala Harris did not differentiate herself from him much and many more white and Latino women may have also stayed home were it not for the repeal of Roe v. Wade. Black men also shifted towards Trump.

    Why don't you explain why it that Latino men voted 62% for Hillary and only 55% for Kamala?

  • This is an interesting, entertaining, well-researched and well-written piece exploring the nature of political networks and the power of presidential pardon, and doesn't serve to be downvoted out of hand.

    Articles like this are not ammo for your opponents in a partisan shitflinging contest, they're nourishment for your awareness of how politics actually works and how unintentionally comedic and convoluted white collar crime can be.

    If you're a fan of Better Call Saul or Coen Brothers movies, you might appreciate it as a narrative if not as a lesson about political corruption. It reminds me a bit of the Clarence Thomas and Harlan Crow story.

  • As insane as some of these Trump picks sound, in the case of Patel and a few others I wonder if they aren't just shrewd - they simply play up to MAGA and Trump because they've realized he's the most powerful man within the GOP and that his base provide a well of fanatical political loyalty they can tap into for their careers without necessarily meaning the crazy things they say.
