  • Maybe it works for you. I dunno. But letting people just simulate their unpalatable fantasies with software that is the pinnacle of enablement is a bad fucking mix.

    Life and society is real. Pawning uncomfortable realities off on software that glazes you at every opportunity just accelerates the rate at which people emotionally, socially, and sexually stunt themselves.

    So called "AI" is cancer for the mind. Combining that with letting your life be led and dictated by the whims of your dick is the equivalent of not thinking twice about taking harder and harder drugs because shit like weed or alcohol loses its appeal.

    Sometimes its beneficial to pump the brakes and take a step back to think about how things might be affecting one's life.

    Also, I highly disagree that there's a significant subset of dudes that are unfuckably gross by chance. Just look at that Reddit sub about dudes asking if its time to cut their absolutely shitty hair. Being that ignorant of your hygiene and outward appeal is a choice in many cases. The problem is that men are not raised to be self aware and when life comes to dunk on their social ineptitude they'd rather wallow in misery and blame anything and anyone else than do literally anything to help themselves.

    There's a lot of men out there that deserve empathetic and attentive help for their issues. There's also a lot of men that are just straight-up negligent, selfish, and lazy. If you have any female friends, poll them about their experiences with men and you'll realize just how fucking stark the situation is. It's insane.

  • That's what I ended up doing. I really wish there was a flag for sexual content in general that would be easy to omit from the feed. I don't wanna block entire instances as they might have discussions and content on non-sexual topics that I'd like to participate in.

    The first thing everyone that I've recommended Lemmy to sees is massive amounts of porn when they make their accounts. Telling them they need to block instances is a major hurdle as they don't even know what an instance is when they migrate over.

    Most end up not bothering and going right back to Reddit.

  • Did your home instance federate with someplace new? Pretty sure that's what happened to me when I got bombarded by hentai and furry porn a couple weeks ago. It was a veritable tidal wave of shit I had to block.

  • Was going to the gym for a while back in like 2015 (still do, but I used to too) and was feeling so much better than usual.

    I asked my roommate who was one of my best friends at the time if he'd be interested in coming too as it would probably be really fun and motivating if we went together. Dead serious he hit me with "nah, I don't wanna get too buff."

    I think I offended him a bit with my incredulous response. I honestly couldn't even believe what I heard. Dude was a string bean and would have needed a hard year at the gym to even get remotely "buff". I was truly dumbfounded.

  • America Light® in a lot of ways. Its so damn big that most people that don't live in the beautiful parts of the country might live their whole lives and never see it.

    Housing is fucked, public transit is fucked, urban planning is fucked, we use migrants as cannon fodder for the minimum wage meat grinder... Man, the list goes on.

    Its certainly not the worst place in the world to live but it's really not as good as many people think.
