  • I haven't had issues with my banking app either but I don't use the NFC wallet functionality and never have. I prefer to just tap my physical card.

  • It's like everyone is eating the same meal, even though there's other restaurants everywhere.

So fucking apt. Thanks for framing this the way you did. Really clears up my thoughts on how to discuss this with others.

  • Running GrapheneOS on a Pixel is incredibly easy. You don't need to be technical at all to get it set up. The instructions and the process are simple. Get on it!

  • I'm not sure. I feel like I'd have stuck with my parents' political leanings if I didn't have a catalyst to know any better. I really don't know though. Maybe I'm selling myself short.

My biggest awakening stems from meeting my wife years before we got together. She grew up in a more religious family than I did and experienced a lot of issues with that. She was hip to the atheism and science scene and opened my eyes to it. I can credit her almost exclusively for being that catalyst to show me that the ability to use reason and logic is a foundational skill that all humans should value and that you shouldn't hold values that you haven't reasoned yourself into. She's amazing.

  • Developers all love to preen about code. They worry LLMs lower the “ceiling” for quality. Maybe. But they also raise the “floor”.

And this is how the human element of this industry dies. This dev is the last of a dying breed, the senior dev. He's also loading more bullets into the gun that's pointed at the heart of the role that got him to where he is in the first place.

You don't get to become a junior dev if that role is occupied by AI and you don't get to ever ascend to senior dev unless you start as a junior dev.

For as analytical this person seems to be, he has a massive blindspot related to the path he himself treaded to get where he is. He's pulling the ladder up behind him and condemning the people on the path behind to finding another way or giving up entirely.

AI is brain rot. It's actively and aggressively atrophying humanity's ability to reason and problem solve.

  • I'd say monotheism is the real problem.

  • Honestly, I've always thought the best use case for AI is moderating NSFL content online. No one should have to see that horrific shit.

  • Isnt it "actually Indians"?

  • I will now judge you harshly for your transgression. Simply unforgivable. Smh

Wait, your profile says you've only been around for 8 months. I swear I've been seeing you around for at least a couple years now...

  • October thirnteeurst lmao.

  • I think it should be GUI config or detailed man page/readme. The amount of assumed end-user knowledge by devs is way too high.

  • I really do wish that more packages on Linux had installation paths clearly noted in a readme.

I've been using Linux daily for over a year now and I still have a hard time tracking down config files and install paths. Its just not one of those tasks I do regularly so I always forget best practices when trying to find stuff. The CLI always gives me the best results but getting the commands right can be tedious.

I've started saving useful commands in a note on my desktop.

  • I doubt a kid with tremors would be unable to get an exception made for them. I have tremors and in the mid 2000s my teachers were offering me test taking options like computers and other methods.

I always refused because I was stubborn.

  • Sure, until you inevitably hit a pile of immersion breaking jank.

  • Then you'd be on trial for crimes against humanity.

  • It sure is enabling my right to think you're enabling them. Unless you leave the table once you know who you're sitting with, I'm judging you. Hard.

  • Training them should be your ultimate motivation.

  • Does anyone onow if there is a NOYB equivalent in North America?
