  • I fully expect it especially if they plan on doing things that will ensure they never lose power again.

    It's fucked up in a way, for the last decade "the left" has been saying the Republican party is dead Soon™ but I actually think the Democratic party just died. I don't see them recovering from this and their obstinate "leader" has signaled that they have no intention on learning a lesson. If that holds true then no matter what Republicans do, they'll retain power indefinitely so axing the filibuster would have no downsides for them.

    A major problem I noticed here on Lemmy is some people use the "jargon" of their in-group without consideration of the audience they are speaking to. If you want to convince people you need to speak their language. A typical person here will hear fascist and immediately think Hitler, not government subservience to and protection of corporate interests at all costs utilizing the full power of violence of the police force.

    I won't be the same type of obstinate person that sticks with a party with 0% chance as opposed to a worse party with a 40% chance, but I'd much rather they go the way of the dinosaur.
