I have opinions. Some of them are terrible. For this I am sorry.

Don't DM me without permission please

  • This was years ago, I was working a supervisor position at a certain green mythical sea lady themed coffee chain. I was sitting in the parking lot before my shift enjoying a shitty chili dog from sonic way more than I should have been. Previously that day, I'd recieved a text from my manager asking me to go in early, I elected to ignore it, I'm off the clock I have no obligation to text back or even acknowledge the message. Back to the chili dog. So, I'm scrolling through my phone and I see a message in the group chat for my store where someone asked some kind of question, probably something was broken idk. I replied with an answer and immediately had a text from my manager that said something along the lines of "how you gon reply to that after ignoring me all day?"

I walked in and gave him a shaky nervous lecture (I have really bad anxiety and hate confrontation) about how he doesn't own me or my time when I'm off the clock, he has no authority over me when I'm off the clock, and it's bullshit that he'd be whining in my inbox about petty stuff like that when he could've talked to me in person about it five minutes later when my shift was scheduled to start. I ripped the key off my chain and threw it at the ground in front of him and said to "work the shift your fucking self".

Yeah, I was immature. There were a million better ways to handle it, but he happened to catch me in a critical time between being radicalized and learning emotional intelligence. Sorry dude, you got all my corporate rage in one go.

Whatever, left the worst job I ever got koolaided into enjoying that day.

  • Burner sim won't help, you need a burner phone too.

  • I found Picard enjoyable while I was watching, but retrospectively I can't remember a single scene I enjoyed. It's fine, but it's ephemera.

  • I think it's a dumb debate personally.

I love my space exploration show. I also love my space wizard drama, and my space politics show, and my wibbly wobbly spacey wacey show. I just like goofy shows in space.

Except Picard. I don't care for Picard.

  • CSS is for StyleSheets (so yes layout and font but also more). Adding these features allows for more reactive/responsive styles where the style may be behaviorally defined instead of hardcoding styles.

Basically the only thing I can think of to do with it is some kind of reactive layout that crunches some data and responds to it. IDK, I'm not a web dev and try to avoid CSS when I can.

  • If Cory Doctorow's talk on Post US tech is accurate I suspect users may be able to take quite a bit of control back from corpos soon enough.

  • Nothing. Lunduke hates it because woke. His fanboys hate it because sheep.

  • How are we meant to have these conversations if people keep complaining about the personification of LLMs without offering alternative phrasing? Showing up and complaining without offering a solution is just that, complaining. Do something about it. What do YOU think we should call the active context a model has access to without personifying it or overtechnicalizing the phrasing and rendering it useless to laymen, @neclimdul@lemmy.world?

  • Oooh what do you use for recoloring web pages?

  • When it's broken beyond repair, I'll order a cheap one and go without for a couple weeks. This happens every 4 years or so.

  • What is your problem with it? Just seems like an accessability feature to me. The one issue I see with it is folks who don't need it using it in lieu of walkthroughs and wasting energy. I don't expect that to be that big an issue though, generally people buy games because they want to play them.

  • Lite Mode, Dark Mode?

Am I the only one using custom theming in their IDE? It's like, what if gruvbox lite was green instead of orange. Green is calming, makes me feel like I'm in nature. Become one with the bugs and encourage them gently to leave your code alone.

  • That's why I deleted my comment. Foolishly I posted before reading.

  • Playing with the model a bit in ComfyUI. I didn't even realize it was new 😅.

Works well, extremely consistent results from seed to seed, mostly shifting in color grading in my (limited) experience.

  • James Hoffman released a video on this on YT a couple weeks ago, its a bacteria that's unique to the gut biome of Coffee drinkers.

The video is more playful and cartoony than his normal work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZnAQ-PWQdg

  • I usually just shonen anime fight scene scream 'caaaAAAaaat' from accross the room to get their attention.

  • I think ML tools are neat. I think LLMs are a neat tool when used intentionally and not as the "think for me" button. I'm really upset about the PC parts market right now thanks to AI, as soon as I get into selfhosting smdh.

I think multimedia generation tools are dubiously ethicle. With our Current energy generation structure and the ongoing political turmoil, these tools are dangerous when used irresponsibly.

AGI is a crock of malarkey, and markov chains are never gonna get us there.

I should add some of the tools I use. I host Nextcloud, through Nextcloud I host talk. I have all my conversations in talk fed into a whisper model and an llm to transcribe to text and summarize the calls. I also run facial recognition in immich, which is also AI. I host a qwen coder model to digest docs into simple english and generate reference snippets for coding.

AI is cool, and we should keep using it, but also its not efficient enough and big AI server farms are killing the planet.

  • I went in a little over a decade ago. Yes they'll take your tech.

They need to make sure whatever you're experiencing isnt environmental, so you get put in their environment where they can control the variables. No phone, because social media likely adds to whatever issue you're experiencing.
