  • What I always wonder about is, why UK has a say in a corporate that isnt headquartered in their jurisdiction.Sure they operate there but why does a small country have a say about something that is happening in economies like the EU or thr US?

    I'd at least sort of understand if the EU has an actual vote in it if they operate a significant portion of it there.And I'd assume that Paramount/Warner would just dissolve the offices there and only operate from within the EU to serve customers in the UK.

    Strictly Jellyfin:Had good experiences with Finamp before switching to Symfonium.

    Metadata (Jellyfin):ID3 TagsMusicbrainz (1st party plugin. Manual 1-click install) (optional) Apple Music as a plugin

    Maintenance/Import:Done via lidarr

    Effort:Besides having to create album entries on Musicbrainz (can be done automatically with the webtool 'Harmony'), waiting 7 days to get them auto-approved and then importing it on lidarr?Very low.

    Recommendation:Jellyfin + Lidarr

    If you like tracking data:You can track your listening history on listenbrainz (part of and operated by musicbrainz) and generate pretty graphs and get listening recommendation made from users with a similar taste.

    Disclaimer: I havent tried subsonic or anything else than Jellyfin. So I can't speak pro/cons

  • Some scanners are modern enough to be able to differentiate between water and non-permitted liquids.I was able to bring a 1L (33floz) on a plane from FRA.It just needed to go through the scanner. Same with carry-on.

  • There are plugins for SSO.There are 3rd party plugins for OIDC and I think LDAP is even first party.The issue comes when intercepting the signin-progress with 1st party clients. Jellyfin (to my knowledge) doesnt support redirects/callbacks like a homeassistant companion app does.And how many media servers are there? The 2 other major offerings (Plex and Emby) don't support OIDC either.Plex does it's own sauce and Emby doesnt support it. Authentik has a guide to implement it via LDAP.

    And Jellyfin has a tech-debt history being forked from emby. Stark contrast to newly developed projects which were started when SSO and OIDC wasbstarting to become popular.
