  • Given how the modern day stock market works, does it really matter? I’m sure most of us get elated when a headline like this floats around, but unfortunately Tesla is not going anywhere anytime soon.

  • I’ve been doing the screen vertical. I have an McCon that can change the direction you place the phone on the remote.

  • A lot of great games have been ported to phones. Then you have emulation. I am playing games up until 3DS on a 6yr old phone with a blue tooth remote that sticks to the back of my phone.

  • I think McDonald’s kicked off term “fast food”. Street vendors selling hotdogs and other stuff predated them, so your definition is also what I’ve gone by.

  • I’ve been in the animation industry for 15yrs. Mostly in the commercial space, so nothing for movies.

  • Diet plays a larger role in losing weight. Pokemon Go + food can get you started if the only thing you can do is walk.

  • I can’t see these gaining more popularity over Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo if they are only sticking to do retro. From my understanding, most indie companies want maximum reach for their games, especially for the amount of time and money they put into things.

  • My question becomes what would limited run games create the games to play on in the future? PS6 will likely not have a physical game option if I had to guess. Nintendo Switch 2 just came out, so that may be the last console to support physical games. I guess we’d be stuck using old machines. Given how powerful current systems are, that may be enough for indie studios.

  • I wouldn’t say I have the most experience in the fundraising part. It usually starts with getting a group of like-minded people together, pooling whatever money/resources you have together to kickstart some stuff. One you have a meetup/group with some traction then you start looking at what kind of grants are available in the area, since sometimes you have options. Going to local shops in your neighborhood that are willing to donate food/time also helps. Ultimately it comes down to how many people you know and how well you can network.

  • As someone who helps organize events in person, it’s a lot of work, especially if it’s for free. While I appreciate seeing people with ideas, there needs to be more people that volunteer to help execute said ideas.

  • Opening this link on a phone is quite the journey.

  • That is very true, but won’t that happen way after the release? That’s usually when these headlines happen.

  • If you want to count a whole year, then yes it can technically be made up by other movies down the line for the whole studio, but it won’t change the fact that the movie would have been a failure, that’s how budgets work. The same goes for pretty much any business that has projects or quarters.

  • It’s more that if a movie costs $100 million to make, it’s usually $100 million in marketing. So it would need to make $200 million to break even. Making $180 million means someone lost $20 million dollars, so I wouldn’t really call it greedy. If the movies are not making the money then they’d need to just start reducing scope or just hope someone will keep bank rolling them.

  • After School and Camp Counselor at 17. I did not pay taxes as I was part of a program for underaged kids (I also barely made money). Legally the place I worked at could not hire anyone under 18, so they would hire companies that were set up to do so.

  • I look forward to the day when there is a fan re edit of the show, hopefully the book ending is out by then… one can hope…

  • I think we tend to forget that companies are not “people” or a thinking thing. They are run by people. All the current CEOs only care about getting money to themselves. By the time things are close to collapsing, these people will have made more than enough money for themselves and pass off the CEO seats to someone else for that to be their problem.

  • It’s a perfect gaming mic drop.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Will pictures have the same meaning they used to?

Is there a single place that lists instance ideologies?
