  • It had its perks, but it honestly sounds a lot cooler than it is. Navy Nuke school has the highest dropout rate of any branch of the military, mostly for psych reasons. If anyone is even considering going to Nuke school, I tell them the best thing to do is breakup with their GF or BF. If you're not already committed enough to have already gotten married, the relationship probably won't survive Nuke school. You basically don't see them, and can't really talk with them for almost 2 years

  • US Citizens aren't. Specific types of US Veterans are. Specifically those with combat experience, or training experience. Technically I could volunteer, if Ukraine had any need of a Nuclear Reactor Electronics Technician, or the instructor of said ETs. However, seeing as how they don't have a Navy, they have no use for me, so I can't volunteer.

As far as their loyalties, they have basically sworn a new oath to Ukraine, and are there to see it through to the end of the Russian invasion. At this point the US may as well be Narnia as far as those guys are concerned. I suspect many of them have already come to terms with the fact that they are probably only coming home in a box.

  • They're saying that Trump is extremely likely to die of old age, at which point those scenarios are literally on the table.

  • We have a protest sign around here somewhere, that reads, "If they enforced bank regulations the way they do encroachment rules around here, we wouldn't be in this mess!"

  • Might not have been for Amiga exclusively then. I was only familiar with Elite on the Amiga.

  • I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub

    Grover Norquist.

  • Oh, that wasn't just my collection. That was the entire family's, plus like 5 other kids family's collections. Admittedly, the smallest town I've lived in had a population of ≈20,000 people.

  • In 1984 we had on console Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Frogger, Super Mario Bros (Famicom), Jet Set Willy, Elite (Amiga), The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, Kings Quest 1, and Pitfall 2, just to name a few of the many classic titles we had access to.

  • We are protesting. There are continuous protests at ICE facilities all over the US. I personally have been going to the one in Otay Mesa. I can't go every day, but I'm there at least 3 days a week, and I managed 5 days a week over the holidays. The media isn't covering them. They are also severely undercounting the large protests.

  • Not sure if it is still the case, but back in '96 when I learned to drive, I was told that insurance companies charge more for red and black cars, because they get pulled over more frequently than other colors.

  • I owned 6 SAABs that were made from '82 - '90. I refused to touch a GM SAAB. Didn't even buy them with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer. 1/6 died at ≈750,000 miles. That was my fault, found out about hydroplaning the hard way, on I-75. The other 5 died between 1.3-1.7 million miles. Never quite got one to 2,000,000. Several hundred people have, and despite SAAB not making a car since 2011, they still keep adding cars to the list of 2,000,000+

  • She's not getting any candied yams. I don't care what she says.

  • Jolene wasn't exactly real. Dolly borrowed the name, with permission, from one of their servers who was a teenager at the time. Apparently, Dolly thought that she could easily write a song using that name.

  • Drop him into Lake Superior. Can't pollute the lake if the body can't decompose, which they can't at the bottom of Lake Superior

  • It's balm made from shrimp lips.

  • Nuclear, in the 1970s. We should have had molten salt reactors worldwide by the 1990s, but the US just sat on the tech, because of permit issues. If I could, I would take all the research that was done on MSRs by the end of the 1970s to then Captain Rickover in 1950.

  • I swear I saw this comic in Adventures of God, but that isn't the artists style.....

  • She may be bigger than Ticketmaster, but, much like Pearl Jam, I suspect she has found out that she isn't bigger than the contracts that the venues have with Ticketmaster which say that they can only host artists and events that sell tickets through Ticketmaster.

I don't even like TS, I'm just saying other groups that were just as influential in their day, couldn't do it when they tried because of those contracts.
