  • Not just cold fusion. We are still working on creating hot fusion reactions that are controlled. That honestly makes sense. It's kinda weird that we were able to theorize the uncontrolled reaction of fission, and then used that to create a mostly kinda stable controlled fission reactor.

  • IIRC the radio scripts were the very first version. Which means that the joke in the radio show was probably deliberate.

    I know for a fact that in the books there's a throwaway gag that the petunias thought, "Oh no, not again," and the narrator mentions something about the fact that if anyone knew what that meant, the universe might make a whole lot more sense.

  • My parents are Hippies. They don't believe in free love, substance abuse, or the fake gurus. They are earthy crunchy people. According to them two factors caused the hippie movement to fail.

    \1) The hippies were a TINY counterculture movement. I'm aware that they are talked about so much that it seems like 1/4 to 1/3 of the generation were hippies, but in reality it was more like 1/1000 to 1/100. No critical mass was achieved.

    2 More than half of the hippies sold out to capitalism and became yuppies.
