Politics is kinda the default for lemmy.world, lemmy.hexbear, and lemmy.ml. If you don't want politics, join an alternate server rather than .world. Or, alternatively, start curating your list of communities to block the comms channels that provide politics. That latter option is kinda what I did.
"Convetional Wisdom" has been shoving Horse and Sparrow economics down our throats for 150 years. It's never worked for anyone but The Epstein Class. Of course any other model will work more successfully when we are excluding The (psychologically damaged and sick) Dragons from economic policy.
Also over in Europe sometime in the last several years, some beavers completed a dam that had been stalled in the planning and funding phase. The beavers just rolled up and in 24 hours with $0 in funding and built a dam in almost the exact spot that the planners were going to build them anyway.

If you own your home, I know that seems to be shrinkingly rare in this state, a solar setup and battery backup/ grid controller is well worth it. My primary forms of transportation are my E-bike and the trolley. If I can't get there that way, or need additional cargo capacity, I have a Chevy Bolt, so I'm actually using a fail amount of electricity above and beyond the normal appliances.
