  • I get his argument. I personally don't mind it, but people are trying to curate their feeds better. Memes should ideally be for memes.

This better belongs in whitepeopletwitter. Do we have one on Lemmy yet?

  • Sure. But this isn't a bump stock. It's a forced reset trigger that was just unbanned.... Which is insane. It essentially converts semi automatic weapons to automatic weapons.

  • I agree that most creators don't become wealthy, and yes, there's plenty of abuse and inequality in how IP laws are applied. But removing those laws wouldn't solve that - it would just give even more power to the entities with the most money, reach, and legal muscle.

Without IP protections, smaller inventors and musicians wouldn't even have the option to negotiate or earn anything off their work. A major label or corporation could just take it, polish it, and release it as their own without any consequences.

So while the system isn't perfect, saying it "only exists to make the rich richer" misses the point. The alternative isn't more equity, it's no recourse at all for the little guy.

  • To keep it short and simple, it was more organic back then. Today, it's more of a "designer" experience. You can still have a hell of a lot of fun, but it just feels less natural.

  • This is a terrible take. Sure. There are issues with the system, but these laws protect smaller musicians and inventors from having their ideas stolen and profited upon by larger players.

Without patent laws, there's no reason to ever "buyout" a design from an inventor, or for smaller songwriters to ever get paid again. A large company or musician could essentially steal your work and make money off of it, and you would get nothing for all of the time and effort that you put into it.

  • It's worth noting that Burning Man from 15 years ago is not the same Burning Man today and it's tragic.

  • Learning how to engage and socialize with people of both sexes is a necessary skill. As long as your not being a toxic mess in front of them, you're fine.

  • It's a political statement. Guys are talking this way. Sure it's a caricature, but that doesn't make the statement less meaningful. Toxic masculinity is just that...it's toxic AF, and while I may not think she has the funniest comic ever, it's a good way to showcase the absurdity of our current times.

  • I love seeing these comics. You can always count on like 20 white males showing up asking how this is funny, that it's a strawman, that pizzacake is terrible, blah blah blah.

The simple thing is, they are comics that give a flavor of the times. Males ARE acting this way. Is it a caricature of a scenario, sure, but that's what a fucking comic is. Does it have to be "funny" in order to be a comic? No, there are political comics everywhere. Why does pizzacake only get this sort of ire? Is it because she's calling out white males on the absurdity of their actions, and they don't like it?

My advice? Chill TF out bros. It's a comic. If you don't like it, maybe you should talk to your buddies when they start acting like Andrew Taint's mouthpiece. Toxic masculinity is a real issue. Sorry that it takes a fucking pizzacake comic to discuss it...

  • I biased against meth, but also afraid of it as well. Doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to try it and assess whether it's really as bad as they say. I also won't try out any poison, random pills I find, or anything I have to inject.

Fear is a healthy thing sometimes, mate.

  • Van Hollen did the right thing and it should be recognized. It's time to stand up to this fucking regime in any way we can.

  • Which...uh....Au mine are we talking about?

  • You should check out the HBO documentary on Qanon. It's fantastic. Essentially, no. However, I don't doubt for a second that Elon didn't try to co-opt it at some point.

  • On one hand, this is just goofy Leftist bullshit.

On the other hand, it's worth understanding the differences between "progressivism" and "liberalism".

Most "liberals" don't really understand what "liberalism" is. Most of them are actually "progressives" and just don't realize it.

Then it's worth noting the differences between "progressivism" and the absolute looneytoons ideas that "leftists" espouse. I am not okay with the hardcore socialism that they push, or for the absolute civil war that it will require to enact those ideas.

  • They won't be tubby for long. Food about to get expensive. Timmy about to be on a fucking diet.

  • Can you transfer it back afterwards?

  • We're going to protest the fuck out of this. This is our Tiananmen Square.

    This parade WILL NOT happen...

  • I just had a talk with my wife about this as well. Do we pull it, knowing that it'll get hit with the 10% fee. But then put it back in after the market is absolutely crash? Like...I'm assuming it's going to get a lot worse ....

  • Thine eyes struggle to measure the shear size of your audacious bullshit.
