    As long as it's not Covid level, since America doesn't mandate remotely reasonable paid time off, I'm not given enough PTO annually not to be be driven into deep depression living to go to work almost all the time.

    I'm not going to waste my limited PTO being sick.

    I'd rather get paid to be sick than do it for free, especially if it's going to cut into the whole 10 PTO days I get a year. Bonus points if I get the owner sick.

    If we had mandated reasonable time off like an actual developed nation and not the gold plated shithole we are, I'd have enough job security and time off not to get my coworkers sick in our respective ruggedly individual quests to get moar by competing against each other. 🇺🇸

    Neither party would be so civil if a democratic socialist administration or better was about to take power. That would be a bipartisan emergency both sides would use every second to undermine before the fact.

    Don't worry though, neither of our two power sharing parties that matter would ever let that get close to occurring. The DNC/RNC would have too much to lose. They need eachother to point at when the owners need to turn the screws on their exploitation livestock while convincing many of them that their party tried to stop it.

    How many times do we need to keep this nation "united" at gunpoint before we acknowledge that the science and reason people are incompatible with the supply side Jesus and racial hatred people? We can't stand one another, and time only deepens that division until bloodshed, over and over.

    You can't educate those cultures that refuse to be educated or have their children educated. That kind of change, born of desperation and constant struggle inflicted from your own culture's values needs to come from within. The Red States need their Martin Luther "maybe we shouldn't punch ourselves in the face every day" reformation moment, and it isn't rational for those that see beyond their ignorance and superstition be dragged down with them for generations until they get there. Blue states propping them up only prolong comfort in their ignorance.

    You can't force cultural evolution or save the willfully ignorant from their own willlfull ignorance from outside on Alabama any more than you can on Afghanistan, all you do is create a common enemy for them, as we continue to experience.

    I vote blue out of harm reduction, but there's no escape in the US without necessary complete governmental and economic collapse. It is too well corrupted into protecting capital over people. I think in the desire for perpetual stability for the sake of commerce/profit, something vital was simply discarded in the modern nation state model:

    The renewal that can only come from the collapse of the past.

  • Then you have to ask yourself, does that happening, and a couple million Americans being killed by the American Military to get the other couple hundred of million in line, is that a nation that worth continuing? Basically being held at gunpoint to keep laboring for the owners as the point and pretend everything is fine?

    Things may somehow end up even worse upon collapse initially, but given our people's apparent hatred for one another across identity lines and clear geographical lines, I have to believe maybe collapse, divorce, and reformation into several nations would be for the best long term.

    They say the history bends towards justice, but maybe that requires something that the modern nation states, made in the pursuit of perpetual stability, left out an essential component that may also be absolutely vital in nature: the renewal that comes from collapse.

    It sucks, it will hurt if it happens, but I try to take a larger view than that, generational suffering.

    Maybe this stranglehold by the owners is inevitable when things become too intransigent. Maybe the information age accelerates the decay of an empire. I don't know.

    But I'm hesitant about maintaining this union at perpetual gunpoint again. It's a fucked situation, maybe indicitive of a reality we just aren't open to hearing, that the science and progress people need to be separated from the god and racial resentment people.

    That said, ecological collapse is decades away however we rearrange this deck chairs because people still want their fucking POP figures, smoke em if you got em, TB.

    I'm not the way I am to be sad, BTW, it's just how I get to peace instead of horror, disdain, depression, and anger. I zoom out enough until the soap opera of my fellow self-sabotaging monkeys floating around the nearby star becomes academic. It's a viable coping mechanism that isn't born out of willful ignorance (which I despise above all) but intential detachment, for what it's worth.
