  • I've kept voting for the left most party with a chance, for my own conscience and for harm reduction, not for hope, for 20 years.

    There's been no hope because our left most party has met their opposition so far up their ass, they only look left to a full blown fascist, and both parties openly take the same corporate bribe money to keep this exploitative economy and it's inhuman priorities exactly as it is while they war over how to, or if to, address some of the social issue symptoms it causes or exacurbates, so long as it doesn't meaningfully effect quarterly earnings results.

    I could at this point be easily be convinced to vote third party for an explicitly anti-corporatist party even if it didn't have a chance.

    The public, surprisingly bipartisan reaction (voters, not reps, obviously) to what happened a few days ago in New York has given me more hope for positive change in our cesspool of greed enablement than I have felt in my entire life. At some level, it seems many of our people do understand, despite all the corpo propaganda, that their enemy causing most of our ills aren't to their left or right, but economically above, encouraging us to fight about the symptoms of their dictates to THEIR captured government.

    I would rather a left-wing populist steal the corpo DNC's base right out from under them as Trump did in 2016 to the RNC so it could have one of the only two banners that matter helping, but I sadly also think the DNC would rather do everything possible to lose than be dragged along like that and lose the corporate bribe gravy train that left-wing populism, unlike right-wing populism, would need to fight against.

    When you prioritize unsustainable infinite growth/metastasis/private profit over, healthcare, the commons, education, even the once common feasibility of a single income supporting a household with children, aka supporting a future for society, turns out everything falls apart. We needed our government services, instead everything was privatized for the market to take a an ever increasing cut. Privatization of the commons has been a god damned plague. This is what happens when a society is forced to perversely serve the desires of its economy, instead of the other way around as it needs to be.

    I don't care about "winning" the global economy, yet they've suckered us into feeling like we have to keep up and beat other countries like a dick measuring contest to win the privilege of affording the most plastic crap. I just want a simple happy life, don't you? The nordic nations understand this.

  • The sad reality is, ever since Republicans convinced Democrats to take the larger corporate bribe checks over the union bribe checks that created a corrupt balance, but balance nonetheless, non spoiler democrats are elevated within the party to the national level based on their ability to "fundraise" aka find the biggest bribe checks, and have no problem doing favors for it as the cost of governing.

    This is why establishment neoliberal Democrats have far more overt disdain for the literal few spoiler bordeline leftist Democrats then they do for their supposed opposition party they do war with on social issues, but largely align on economically as they're both on the same take.

    Honestly, at this point, we need a leftist, bombastic spoiler candidate to do what Trump did, steal the DNCs base right out from under them. Because the DNC would rather have Republican Fascists in power than disrupt our beloved economy because that gravy train flows right into Congress. Past vague empty rhetoric aside, the DNC will fight tooth and nail lock step with the RNC to make sure healthcare and the larger crony market sociopathic insider info laden economy stays just as it is. Everything else is an intentional sideshow to distract us from what it inflicts upon us. Important issues, yes, but take abortion for example, if either party really cared about fewer abortions, they'd support a living wage that can afford a single laborer family household because abortions are very often correctly an ECONOMIC decision... And we don't get a vote on the shape and most importantly priorities of our own economy with the DNC and the GOP. It's growth first and only. Infinte growth, on a planet we're killing to accommodate growth.

    I don't care about "keeping up" with other economies. Do you? I want to live my life and be happy, not "win" the global economy. The Nordic countries understand this well.

    If the last few days haven't shown bipartisan(voters, not bribed reps, obviously) mass populist support for cutting Wall Street down to size, massively increase the passive leech capital gains gambling rate to be far higher than that for honest labor rather than half as it is now if not cheated away entirely for the commons, schools, and Healthcare by bleeding those murdererous industries out ("herp derp but the owners will leaaaaaave" good riddance then they were just here to exploit us. stop them from doing business in the US if they don't want to pay for the people and commons that facilitated their rise to amoral profits in the first place) because an economy is meant to be a lowly tool to more efficiently distribute goods and services FOR THE BENEFIT OF the society it is a lowly tool of.

    The tail has been wagging the dog for 50 years, and it's a fucking perversion of inhumanity and deification of sociopathy and the personal failing known as avarice.

    We need someone to call it what it is and promise to metaphorically but very economically burn wall street to the ground and reward labor over speculative gambling. Jon Stewart if we have to do a celebrity. AOC of course, probably the only congressperson I'd even consider.

    ... Or you know, we could keep moving to the right and see if that makes things better lol...

  • I don't agree with the person you're talking to, but in the US, "just quitting" often isn't an approachable option.

    People who think one can causally quit is more often than not luxuriating in privilege, be it family support or your own funds.

    For millions of Americans, the choice is between a job that makes them want to die, or taking the next step and quitting to die in the gutter, because land of the greedy, home of the unshackled sociopaths.

  • Agreed. This happened because both parties are bought and paid for by big corpo. Our vote is only on how to address some of the social issue symptoms, if at all, of our crony capitalist economy, and only if they don't meaningfully effect corpo profits.

    Example "please leftwing Obama, save us from this for profit healthcare hell!" proceeds to further enshrine for profit insurer leeches in a plan made from the heritage foundation because big corpo demand line go up.

    The people don't get a vote on the crony capitalist economy.

    When we wish to protest, we're now sent to designated protest zones out of the eyelines and profit operations of those we protest, making such "protests" as effective as masturbation in creating change.

    This is happening because they have made us this desperate,and taken away/castrated our non-violent options. Some are apparently finally realizing that our votes and our protest have been manipulated by the capitalists that know they're doing us harm into still technically existing, but no longer mattering.

    Gotta hand it to them, it's far more insidious than overt slavery with chains.

  • I think the road from hatred to empathy is far shorter than the road from cold sociopathy to empathy.

    At least with hatred, the person lifts their head to see you when they hurt you, they're passionate about your existence, just in the wrong way. The capitalist presses a button and yawns hurting people in volume, the victims never given a passing thought.

    They don't see the poor as human enough to hate.

    They live in separate bubbles, go to different schools, live in guard gated places, vacation at places only they can afford. By design, the wealthy are segregated from us, and are taught not to empathize with their livestock.

    That's all anyone outside their class are to them, livestock. Management livestock, laborer livestock, homeless (capitalist scarecrows) livestock. Just levels of livestock.

    Honestly I think the sociopathy of market capitalism makes it worse, yes worse, than crimes of hatred.

    At least someone who hurts or kills you for who you are cares enough about your existence enough to want to hurt you and revel in your pain.

    A wealthy capitalist will feed a thousand children lead or deny a thousand claims for necessary surgeries(topical!), and pay the fine if there's one at all without so much as a glance at your name. A nameless speed bump on the road to GLORIOUS PROFIT!

    Shrooms make me feel so much more self-conscious when I'm tripping for some reason. LSD is much more enjoyable to me, but much harder to source as you can't just grow it yourself from an internet kit.
