  • It's insane, isn't it? Especially when it comes from a fellow woman.

I had a pre-syncope and could barely get out of bed for a week and a half. When I told my doctor I'm worried about it reoccurring because I don't know the cause of it, she just smiled and said that's something that would be hard to diagnose and that I shouldn't live in fear. And I'm like ??? Your job is literally to diagnose. I also have a few chronic illnesses, so I tend to feel up and down. She straight up told me it's just anxiety and I should be grateful I don't have any serious illnesses.

Unfortunately, she's not the only one like that. Just recently I had a doctor tell me such nonsense that's debunked with a 2 second internet search that I questioned whether he got his license off Temu.

Too many misogynists and narcissists in the field.

  • There's a difference between "I thought I was infertile" and "I literally don't have my uterus and ovaries". In these situations it comes off as patronizing because there's "no way" a woman who doesn't have her reproductive organs knows what she's talking about. It's one of those things that adds to the massive pile of medical mistreatment of women, and that's why it's a touchy topic for many.

  • Pregnancy test for MRI? I had one early this year (I hated it) and I certainly did not have to take a pregnancy test. Or do you mean pregnancy test in general? Because that one pisses the fuck out of women who absolutely 100% know they aren't pregnant (haven't had sex, don't have their reproductive organs anymore, other possible reasons).

  • It's an extremely dumb mentality. In my country (mostly countryside) people just get rid of the puppies and kittens in awful ways. Put them in a bag and throw them in the river, strangle them, give them to vets to put them down or what my late neighbor did bury them alive right after they're born. It's sickening.

  • Interestingly no! The video that was in my feed was from Real Science channel.

  • Another not-so-fun fact: several tortoise species have gone extinct due to humans hunting them for food.

  • Oh yes

  • Yep. I lived in a 35m² apartment where bedroom, office, living and dining room were one room because there was no space to separate them. Kitchen was in a separate, small room, but had no door, so technically it was all one room. There was just not enough space to add walls. However, knocking down every wall possible to join your bedroom with the rest... No. In that case, I'd at least place a divider of some sort.

  • Oh yes

  • A cousin of mine lived in a 50-60m² place, knocked all the walls down except for bathroom. That means their kitchen, dining and living rooms, and bedroom were all in the same room. Okay, the place looked more spacious, but it was literally form over function through and through. Not my cup of tea.

  • My company doesn't even let the Linux software devs use Linux workstations because they don't integrate well with Windows AD/DC. I live in a relatively small city where everyone still depends on Windows and all the other big player companies (like vmware). My company has recently started pushing the few open source solutions that we do have out and replacing them with Microsoft garbage, even though it raises costs, gives us in the IT more headache and is ultimately more hostile to privacy. I'm deeply disappointed, especially because I've been trying to push for solutions that aren't MS trash. However, I have no power, so I have to do as I'm told.

  • I'm guessing KDE Plasma on Manjaro? Because on my Fedora I haven't experienced any random crashes. This might be more a specific distro bug than a DE one.

  • Most of us still have to work on Windows in business environment. This is not going to change, even if I'd like it to. Troubleshooting M$ products is probably at least 30% of my job at this point...

  • That depends entirely on your DE (you didn't mention yours). I can easily do this through GUI on KDE and XFCE.

  • I knew which video that was going to be before even clicking. And same, lol.

  • It's a stereotype for a reason, though. I've had many cats, and at one point we had a mom with three of her children. Mom and one of the children were "affectionate" only when they wanted to eat, otherwise, they'd go hide somewhere to be left alone. They did like to sleep in the same bed as us for warmth, but that's about it. Only one of the 4 liked (likes) to cuddle and be pet and spend time with us. So out of these 4 cats from the same family, 2 didn't want much to do with us, one was okay and spent time around us, and one was/is very affectionate. We didn't treat them any differently, it was just their temperaments 🤷

  • Gentrification.

  • +1 for Fedora. I've been using the same installation for 3 years. That's multiple dirty upgrades. The only reason I'll be most likely reinstalling is I got a new SSD and it's a nice opportunity to start fresh.

  • Your mistake is assuming these showrunners had any clue what they were doing and weren't malicious. As someone who knows way too much about the show, I can tell you that those two showrunners were the death of the show.

If you take a step back, you can see that the highly acclaimed S4 is just a rehash of S3. We have a love triangle—again—that serves to artificially keep the lead couple apart and cause forced drama. S5a is somewhat decent, has its moments, but then S5b crashes hard. Why they had to introduce actual god as a character is anyone's guess. And then try to absolve him of his terrible behavior, because "he just meant well when he was incflicting trauma on his children. Uwu, look how cute he is". Not to mention all the episodes they waste on side characters while giving their lead female character nothing.

Come S5b finale and things might be actually going well? Lol, just kidding. Lucifer suddenly isn't god, he's just this immature clown who has forgotten all about his monologue about unnecessary human suffering. S6 was just constantly shitting on his character. Like, you can almost physically touch the hatred showrunners felt for him.

Plus, the whole Rory plot? Straight up plot of Flash, except in Flash the daughter didn't turn into a selfish psycho bitch who chased away her dad to Hell forever (and we could definitely go into the tragedy Rory's character truly is and how much manipulation and abuse has to go into shaping her to grow up so angry that she travels back in time).

With that said, if we go a little bit back to S4, you can see the big shift in Lucifer as a character. Remember how he blames his dad for manipulating him and making his life miserable in S1-3? S4-S6 Lucifer didn't put the blame on God one single time. In S4 he blames himself ("There's something rotten inside of me"), even though he has every right to believe Dad is manipulating him by sending Eve back to the living (which lol, was never explained, just like most of the lore... don't overthink!). He also has every right to believe his omnipotent Dad doomed his daughter to a closed time loop, since it's a paradox.

And yet, Lucifer keeps blaming himself, and in the end accepts that going back to Hell is "all part of Dad's plan, cheeky bastard". So we go from Lucifer fighting tooth and nail to never go back to Hell (his prison), one of his siblings is literally eradicated from existence in the war for throne in S5, just for him decide he doesn't really want to be god and instead go back to Hell to "help souls" by... giving them therapy? I.e. doing a sisyphus task because the system remains broken. The stupidity of that alone is mind-boggling (this is another Chloe erasure, btw).

In the end, instead of S6 celebrating how far Lucifer has come despite his awful upbringing and letting Chloe and he enjoy themselves, the showrunners twist these characters into a pretzel to create even more tragedy and drama. S6 makes way more sense when you know that the showrunners worked backwards, i.e. they had a fixed ending for S6 and then had to fit the characters into this inorganic narrative.

As you can see, I could write a 100 page essay on what went wrong with the show and how it's the showrunners' fault. Sorry for offloading all this, but there hasn't been a single show that has made me this salty to date, lol.

  • Haha, that's the former head of my department. They asked for a good raise (after building the infrastructure from ground up), the company said nah, so they left for a better position and much more money than what the current dept. head is making. The company now pays for their consulting, and the management still hasn't learned their lesson, because they're still stingy with the raises.
